On April 12th, the WTS Philadelphia Student Chapter led a tour of the Schuylkill River Trail Extension pedestrian bridge project! Students observed active bridge construction, guided by professionals from AECOM, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), City of Philadelphia, Urban Engineers, and PKF-Mark III, Inc.. The event featured discussions on the project's design, management, and environmental considerations, enhancing students' understanding through firsthand experiences and interactions with engineers and project managers. The tour highlighted the complex aspects of bridge construction and offered networking opportunities with industry professionals. Thank you to AECOM, Kittleson & Associates, STV, Urban Engineers, and WSP in the U.S. for providing PPE to our students for the construction walking tour. The chapter thanks the organizing firms and sponsors for their support in providing an educational experience that enhances students' academic and professional growth! #WTSPhiladelphia #WTSStudents #WTSStudentChapter #Students #Transportation

Tonsley is Australia’s first innovation district, and home to some of South Australia’s best and brightest minds. The new facility will be home to the Tonsley Technical College, a Department for Education, South Australia (DfE) initiative supporting students to complete the SACE while undertaking vocational education and training (VET) to help address the state’s skills shortages, including in the construction industry. The project also includes the Flinders University expansion of Factory of the Future – a world class advanced manufacturing facility designed to bring together industry, education and researchers. Sarah Constructions is proud to be the project’s construction partner, continuing a long relationship delivering world-class facilities for both DfE and Flinders University. Designed by Das Studio, the building is South Australia's first mass GLT & CLT project in the state, with the 4000m2 building’s columns, beams and floors constructed entirely of this innovative product, supplied by NeXTimber (by Timberlink) and Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH), a local leader in sustainable construction materials. Led by Project Manager Hanan Jamal, our team is working closely with industry partners including Turner & Townsend , Rider Levett Bucknall RLB, WSP in Australia, INNOVIS Consulting, dsquared Consulting, and BuildSurv to deliver a project that will provide long-term benefits for South Australia’s economy and workforce. This blog explores the collaboration and innovation making this pioneering project a reality. So, entries for the 2024 #WorldDemolitionAwards are now coming in and I have to say; the more I see the work that #demolitioncontractors are doing, the more I love it. And I know that if more people outside of the #demolition #deconstruction #dismantling and #decommissioning industry had the chance to see the incredible projects and the positive impact that they can have on our world and the environment, the bigger the positive change our industry could have in shaping the way we design, build and live. If you're a #contractor planning on entering this year's awards 🏆 (run by the #WorldDemolitionSummit: https://lnkd.in/eU7jUSMG), I encourage you (if you're not bound by non-disclosure agreement) to NOT check the box that opts you out of Demolition and Recycling International (D&Ri) being able to publish case studies about your projects. We have to take every opportunity to educate the wider world on what the industry is really like, the opportunities it presents and how it enables a #sustainablefuture.
