As #CABSAT approaches, the numbers from Caretta Portal paint a captivating picture of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market. 🌐 The OTT wave is sweeping across the region where we expect consumer streaming service revenue to grow by 12.7% CAGR from 2022-2028, outpacing traditional commercial broadcasters' 6% growth and pay TV's 4% decline. With their audience’s unique cultural preferences, there's a golden opportunity for local providers to thrive by catering to this dynamic audience. Interestingly, the trend is leaning towards hybrid models, as product positioning adapts to this OTT-first landscape where SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) and AVOD (Advertising-based Video on Demand) are skyrocketing, while pay TV takes a backseat. Meet with our team at CABSAT to find out more about these trends in the MENA region and how Caretta Portal can help you make better business decisions. Through Portal, you can check out the latest products and industry innovations, and position yourself to seize the incredible opportunities in the MENA region. China's streaming giants thrive: Tencent and iQIYI lead the 5G-driven revolution Tencent and iQIYI are leading China's streaming revolution, driven by the country's massive 5G rollout, which now includes over 4 million base stations. A new report by BB Media reveals that the top five streaming platforms in China are all homegrown, with Tencent Video, iQIYI, and Youku dominating the market. Tencent Video leads with 110.10 million households, followed closely by iQIYI with 102.73 million households. A key trend is the low rate of account-sharing in China compared to global norms, boosting profitability. Mobile devices are the primary choice for streaming, with telecom giants like China Mobile facilitating this growth. For the APAC region, this means China is setting a unique standard with its mobile-first and homegrown streaming ecosystem, making it difficult for international platforms to penetrate. The region may see similar trends of mobile dominance, while government regulations could continue to shape streaming markets across APAC. https://lnkd.in/g7hYDU_W #5GInnovation #TelecomSecurity #HuaweiBan #CyberThreats #GeopoliticalTen #EUTechPolicy #CriticalInfrastructure
