Super nice to see progress in Siemensstadt Square: the laying of the foundation stone as the next step to develop of one of Europe’s largest urban redevelopment sites.  Looking forward to seeing and finally experiencing how digital innovations can transform a historical industrial site. Even nicer that Siemens Infrastructure's technologies will help to shape this carbon neutral urban district, e.g. with #DigitalTwin technology, #BuildingManagement systems and #EV charging.

What a panel to close the #IFAT2024 in Munich and draw some conclusions around “The future of living - adapting to the results of climate change”! The usual noise of a busy exhibition hall was barely noticeable, because two top experts were invited to speak about this topic, reflecting on #Urbanization and #Cities. Prof. Dr. Ian Goldin ( https://lnkd.in/dC7DMzyZ) gave the first keynote and spoke about the impact of inequality, social division, and climate change on cities. Despite these threats and challenges, Golding stressed that we must celebrate cities as source of creativity, hope, and potential. For that it is important to do things in new ways and develop technologies and the engineering to enable us to do that. Very intersting to hear that Germany and Japan have developed a healthy and globally unmatched decentralization, not being so dependant on mega cities, rather powerful regions. Daniel Libeskind (https://lnkd.in/d5azsvT4) then gave us his reasoning for designing iconic buildings and places in cities like New York, Berlin, Dresden, and Milano. He made it clear, why cities need open places where people meet, where culture and arts are developed, and how city architecture and urban planning can reflect on history, presence, and future. I asked Goldin, how important proximity, and density of people in cities still is for innovation, in times where digitalization enables remote collaboration. Based on research he answered that significant innovations still need people to be closely together. And that‘s why cities will not lose their role as powerhouses of economy and creativity. No doubt, they shape the world tremendously! 🇩🇪🚗🚙🚅 Now their major city, Berlin, has been re-engineered to achieve another great milestone besides other engineering success. 🏙 Nothing else but to turn SMART & SUSTAINABLE that serve the people. 📡♻️👨👩👧👦 According to Cities Today (2023), the city of Berlin is already the SMARTEST in Europe. In other words, above London, Madrid and many other great cities. 🌎 But how? This is mainly due to the following deployment: 1. EFFICIENT PUBLIC & PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION 🚆🚌 2. Smart City Update: Kirchheim bei München Kirchheim is one of the 50 "Smart City Model Projects" that are testing cross-sector digital strategies for their community and citizens. The core #technology of the digitalisation process is to create a digital twin of the community which will be used in the future for various use cases. urbanistic is creating this virtual environment by collaborating with companies that provide vital data for city administrators and citizens - such as air quality, the health of trees, and traffic flows. Further, the project will be extended as an important communication tool for the administration to engage the public as a part of the community and in planned projects. Hello, I would like to share my disappointing experience at Stadtsparkasse München (Barer Str. 41, 80799 Munich) from yesterday. While the branch offers an excellent work environment for students to develop their projects and ideas, my recent visit was upsetting and has negatively affected me. The branch provides workspaces that can be booked via Outlook. I had reserved a private room from 16:00 to 18:00. Within the very first minutes after 16:00, a staff member came to the room and told us to leave due to another group's imminent arrival. Despite our reservation, we complied but requested an explanation. When I asked why we were locked out despite having a reservation, the Head of Student Advice Department (Bereichsleiterin Studentenberatung) waved her hands dismissively in my face, didn’t offer any further explanation or an apology, and just walked out on me. Later, when my friend asked for an explanation, the manner in which we were treated was concerning. Unfortunately, she did not handle the issues with professionalism and respect. This lack of support and refusal to address our concerns was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. We understand that IT problems do happen, but what we can't accept is the unsupportive, uncooperative, and discriminatory behavior (interrupting us to return to her colleagues and aggressively speaking German about us). In conclusion, while Stadtsparkasse Munich offers high-quality workspaces, there seems to be a discrepancy in the reservation process that needs addressing. Even with a confirmed booking, you may be asked to leave without a justification. We regret that we had to pay for their IT problem by leaving the room despite having a reservation. I hope the branch can take this feedback seriously and work towards improving its customer service approach to ensure that future interactions are handled more professionally and empathetically.
