Jharkhand is home to 32 different tribes, making it a multi-ethnic state in India. Tribals constitute around 28% of the total population of Jharkhand, which is around 8% of the total tribal population of India. These Indigenous tribes have a vibrant heritage and rich culture. They are talented and highly skilled in various art forms. For example, the Munda tribes are known for their basketry, weaving, and other crafts, the Malhar tribes are engaged in Dhokra art, whereas the Asur tribes are famous for iron smelting. Jharkhand, nestled in eastern India, possesses a distinctive culture and tradition shaped by its tribal heritage and historical roots. This cultural blend reflects the creativity and resilience of the indigenous communities, making Jharkhand a repository of diverse traditions. Recognizing their pre-existing skills and providing them with skill training will not only impart sustainable livelihood opportunities but also preserve the rich traditional knowledge of tribal people and contribute to the overall economic development of the state. We've spent the last #15YearsOfSattva researching, analysing, and building knowledge databases to aid and accelerate impact. The Bharat East report explores the performance of the eastern states — #Bihar, #Jharkhand, #Odisha, and #WestBengal — using data points from the #NFHSIV, #NFHSV, and #MissionAntyodaya resources. It highlights that while being home to only 22% of the population, these four states account for more than 40% of the Aspirational Districts identified by NITI Aayog. Despite this large need, the states jointly received 6% of India's total CSR funds from 2014-2021. Odisha receives 75% of the East's share of the #DistrictMineralFund, while West Bengal and Bihar are among the bottom five recipients of #DMF allocations in the country.
