Kate laid her foundation at Procore as an SDR in 2021, and owing to her exceptional work ethic and talent for relationship building, she was promoted to Account Executive in the General Contractor space. This is what Kate has to say about working at Procore: How did you get started in tech sales? My brother went from the finance world to Tech Sales and couldn't speak more highly of the culture associated with the industry. Coming from Finance myself, but with an elite sporting background, culture was at the top of my search list in a long term career. In the search for such, Procore came up and I quickly found the culture I was looking for. Hungry, extroverted, driven people, positive team culture, with desire to not only do well but exceed expectations in and outside of work. Why do you love working at Procore? The people  The challenge  The work life balance/support  The autonomy  Procore provides a space where I am challenged while being supported by my colleagues and leaders. What is a sales tip for people starting their sales career? Personalise every sales interaction. No matter how many calls you make, you have to amp yourself up to give the energy you want to receive. Every call could be the call that gets you to your goal/quota/KPI. So treat it as such. It’s a home run for my client going from Account Executive to Sales Enablement Contract Signed 🔥 Transition Complete ✅ We started working together in February. She struggled with: - Not being aligned with the values of her current company. - Not wanting to do hands-on sales anymore. - Feeling stuck in sales as a high-achiever. But she still loved sales. She wanted a role where she could help others. Be involved in creating sales materials. But she couldn’t pinpoint a role. Told her: "What you are describing sounds a lot like Sales Enablement to me". Im one month into my new role at Ncontracts and already I have learned so much from my colleagues, my leadership, and our customers. Its been a crazy, rewarding month and I wanted to share some of my takeaways: 1. The work is never done. There will always be things you can do to generate pipeline, close deals, and create a positive experience for your customers. But if you can’t prioritize the never-ending list of things to do, you might be working well past 5pm for awhile. Learning to prioritize the most important tasks early on is essential. 2. Find your work/life balance. Look, i’m the kind of person that thinks “If I just work a few more hours tonight, I can get ahead!” Sure, there are times where this is totally fine but make a habit of it and you’ll see your productivity decline. Im making a point to, at least a few days a week, close the laptop at 5pm. Date night’s with my partner, gym sessions, and game nights with my friends might not always be around. The work will be there tomorrow. (And taking a break is just going to up your productivity in the long run). 3. Ive said it before and I will say it again: People by from people. Full stop. When I meet with current or prospective customers, I am very much myself. I don’t put on the “sales hat” or the whatever else. I put on the “Dylan” hat. I don’t want customers to work with “Dylan the Salesman.” I want them to work with, “Dylan, the guy who loves watching college basketball and nerding out on history books.” No one wants the sales schtick. Ever. Just be you. Im excited to see what lessons the coming months bring as I try to continue growing personally and professionally! #sales #salesexcellence

Not only do I find the video below by Will Aitken to be funny (like all of his videos that have me rolling on the floor laughing), I love the point that he and the Sales Enablement Collective are making. Revenue is a TEAM sport. Great enablement unites ALL departments. It brings to light how key the sales, marketing and customer success functions are. We need to build a culture of enablement and not just in the sales department. But across your ENTIRE company. There needs to be what we at Personal ABM: An Account-Based GTM Firm call -- account-based enablement that helps sales, marketing and customer success teams have the right interactions and deliver the right experiences to move accounts to revenue and existing accounts to greater revenue growth. We need the enablement to help all teams overcome the struggling moments that sit at the middle of every acquisition, retention and expansion deals. Two years… a LOT can change in 24 months. I began employment with TouchPoint Software two years ago today after over 17 years as a pastor (and teaching music at Baylor University before that). Making a career change in your forties is not for the faint of heart 😂, but I knew I needed to give it my best. I interviewed for over 150 jobs with different companies before hearing that TouchPoint was hiring and I was honestly a bit nervous about going into a sales position. I had ZERO “actual” sales experience, but I eventually learned that I had a TON of the experience that I actually needed to be successful in my role and THAT was what my friend and colleague, Michael Faulkner, saw during my interview process. I also felt strongly that I could only be in sales if I believed in what I was selling and if I understood the target audience… thankfully, I came with a pretty good grasp on the inner workings of a church staff and all that entails! I made the age-old mistake in the beginning of exhausting my personal network of ministry connections, so it made it look like I actually knew what I was doing right off the bat 🤣. Then came the great slump of early 2023…😬 It seemed that nothing I tried was working and there were a ton of conversations with my new supervisor, Hayley Whitworth, in which she would try to help keep me positive, but I was beginning to polish up the old résumé again because I knew that the company couldn’t just continue to pay me without me producing at a certain level and I was far from it. The fact that the company didn’t give up on me during that time may have just come down to the fact that everyone genuinely cared about one another and, to their credit, they kept encouraging me and cheering for even the small victories. I will save what changed for another post on another date, but once things turned around, they turned around for good and I have been able to meet or exceed goals in every single month for fourteen consecutive months and have now been given the opportunity and challenge of continuing to do this while also coaching the rest of our team to increase the team productivity. If you’re curious about what my secret sauce is (again, I will unpack this further later), it could best be summarized as this… I try to begin conversations with as many people as I can, but NOT to get business… to start and/or build relationships with people… some of those lead to business, some don’t, but I view it as a win regardless if I am able to strengthen a bond. I am naturally introverted yet LOVE to meet new people and hear their stories and I learned as a church planter just how valuable a conversation with someone can be (especially when it comes in unexpected situations). I have now booked TWO demos of our software while on flights and while almost every sales person has crafted their “elevator pitch,” I actually booked a demo in an elevator as well! 😂 Thankful for my TouchPoint family & looking forward to the years ahead!
