In the past two weeks most of our 62 #OhioExportInternshipProgram interns began their summer assignments. In our combined region our CSU-based staff are responsible for 24 of these highly talented young professionals. Last night we hosted our annual NEO #meetandgreet event to both welcome those interns coming to the region for the first time and to kick off their summer jobs. We were thrilled to be joined by Melissa L. Gruys, Dean of the #MonteAhujaCollege of Business! Shout out to her husband Scott who took this photo too! We have started to hire interns more frequently at our agency, and it turned out that a significant number of people come to us seeking temporary earnings. This is not the story at all, and now I'll explain why. An intern is someone who wants to acquire a new profession. In a new profession, you can't immediately start earning significantly; you need to be trained. During the training period (which varies for everyone but spans months or even years), you take up more time from your mentors than you contribute. This doesn't mean that interns aren't paid, but it does mean that their compensation is minimal, and they invest their effort and time into being able to earn well with this profession in the future. If you will, it's an investment. It's foolish to invest your effort and time only to deliberately forsake earnings from this investment. You can try it and understand that it's not for you, which happens, but you can't initially count on it as a temporary source of income. Temporarily, it's better to earn either through your existing skills or through unskilled labor. Thank you for your attention :)

Meet the Newest (and Fluffiest) Member of Our Team! 🐾 Last week, our office dynamics took a tail-wagging turn with the arrival of our newest intern. It’s been... different. But who knew a young, fresh face could bring so much joy (and a few more paw prints)? 🐕💼 Some of us are already best pals, while others... well, let’s just say it’s a work in progress. But one thing’s for sure, office life has never been cuter. What’s your vote - pawsitive addition or barking up the wrong tree? 🤣 - - - #marketingempiregroup #temecula #temeculavalley #digitalmarketingagency #digitalmarketingservices #marketinginnovation #businessmarketing #businessmarketingstrategy #theofficeparody #theoffice #theofficememes #theofficeedit #internship

When I was recently contacted by the PRCA to recommit to our pledge on paying interns, it made me wonder: what sort of company does not pay interns? We have had a fully salaried intern recruitment position annually for more than a decade and have used this globally to bring in lots of interns to the business and to train them either to stay with us (great) or to move on in their careers. We've had the pleasure of paying interns to learn their trade with us, and have provided a great springboard for other businesses to benefit from the training we give our staff if they move on later. This is a win/win for us, for interns, for future employers. Why would anyone not pay a fair salary to somebody who is working for their organization? Personally I do not feel it is fair to ask anyone to work for our business without payment for their services. I guess when all companies pay, it will be more of a level paying field, but if companies continue not to pay, there is a continued expectation that this is about 'taking advantage'. We've employed a great cohort of interns over the years, and I would be embarrassed to have taken advantage of their wish to 'get on the ladder'. So The Scott Partnership Ltd has only ever paid its interns and will continue to do so into the future. #internships #intern #B2Bmarketing #B2BPR PRWeek
We’re proud to support PRCA and PRWeek UK’s campaign to end unpaid internships. We have always made it a company policy to pay anyone who works for us, and our #intern programme – in place for more than a decade – was an inevitable place to implement this. As a business we proudly bring interns in as part of our employment and growth strategy, and anyone who works for the business is paid accordingly. Clients pay us, we pay staff. That is the way in our world. This has been a long-standing business belief, and we are proud to support PRCA and PRWeek in this area. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dq-KMR2J

Organisations that ask their interns to work "exclusively" for them are a turnoff for me. 1. Interns, as in, we, the students. We have the physical & mental capacity to put our feet in two different places at the same time. 2. If we don't leverage this capacity now, then when do you think we'll be able to? 3. We *need* to put our feet in different places. Trust me, our fight is not against you, but against time. 4. As long as the assigned work is done within the deadline & with quality assured, why do you want exclusivity!? What do you think about this? #everydaylearning
