BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN STUDENTS AND THE JOB INDUSTRY!!!
Research and interactions with students from various African countries show that many students have limited knowledge about the courses they pursue and their career prospects at the undergraduate level. In addition, they lack relevant information about the skills required in the job market and the demands and qualifications of certain careers. Therefore, students make uninformed career decisions that affect their employability and, therefore, their contribution to African economies.
Mahcap D'Career Show fosters a sense of community by bridging the gap between students and recent graduates and the job market through experience sharing from the job industry. Experts from diverse careers share their career journeys, highlighting their jobs' qualifications, skills requirements, and demands. They also recommend certain careers based on demand and future prospects in the 21st century. The goal is to create a supportive environment for the youth, particularly high school, tertiary, and recent graduates, to make informed career decisions.
This experience is shared biweekly via the Mahcap blog on the Mahcap website and Mahcap TV on YouTube to increase access.
The first episode is about the experience of Madam Rukaya Adam (PhD), lead trainer and supervisor with BSW International. She shared her career journey by highlighting how her first job influenced her career trajectory, skills requirement in her role and job, and why she never had to apply for jobs but always got opportunities despite coming from a traditional, local, and humble background in the Northern Region of Ghana.
