The question is, do you know your key areas? ⚛️ Innovation: As a tech executive, this was music to my ears. But can we catalyze this music into action? ☀️ Last week, Growe attended another important conference – SiGMA Africa in sunny Cape Town. It's a unique and fast-growing region that offers a lot to learn, making it an exciting and productive trip. 👨💻 Vlad Lebediev, our Acting Business Development Team Lead, shared his fresh thoughts after the conference: 💬 "The African market is one of the fastest-growing markets globally in iGaming. Therefore, it's important to keep up with its development and stay in touch with current trends and tendencies. Many regulations will be implemented this year, so it was useful to know them beforehand. Being prepared for the new rules enables you to improve your business development strategy accordingly". 💪 Overall, there were many useful meetings with potential partners, and it was great to immerse ourselves in the market and learn about it from the inside. The African market is truly hot in every sense of the word! See you at the next conference in another part of the world!

Founder & CEO of JamJar | Host of the Palaver Podcast | 40 Under 40 Ghana Honoree | Inducted into the Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame | Championing Africa as a Premier Global Events Destination
Changing Perceptions in the #Events and #MICE Industry In a previous post, I reflected on what events like the BAL finals truly mean for the #events and #MICE industry on the continent. One of our biggest challenges is redefining the narrative and perception the rest of the world has about us. Convincing international clients that the outputs they desire are possible on this continent is central to how we operate at JamJar Company Limited. I founded it to showcase that events in Africa can meet global standards. This mission drives our team and operations. Events like the #BAL help change perceptions, showing that Africa can be a destination for global events. However, there is still a long way to go. As excitement grows among investors and policymakers about the creative industry on the continent, a few points strike me: 1. Perceptions and Stereotypes are Deeply Ingrained To be seen as a serious destination for global events or creative services, we must consciously change what people think about "Africa." 2. How We Speak About "Africa" Matters Africa is not a country. Describe Africa as the continent of Africa, acknowledge its diversity, and name the countries directly. This small change can significantly alter perceptions. 3. Culture and history are critical to understanding the continent. Each African country has a unique culture and history. Do not expect Kenya to be like Ghana, or Ghana to be like Nigeria. Research and understand the impact of colonialism on our cultures and economies. Recognize that your 'shoulds' may not apply here. Anyone working on, in, or about Africa must understand how their perceptions influence their approach and how these perceptions differ from the realities on the ground. It’s up to us, the citizens of the 54 countries, to challenge, correct, and push for recognition of our continent and countries as individual markets with their own nuances. I'd love to hear your thoughts or challenges when it comes to changing perceptions. #Africa #Business #Investment #CreativeSector #ChangingPerceptions

🚀 Africa Investment Day 🌟 If you're interested in emerging opportunities in Africa, the Africa Investment Day in Marrakesh on June 7th might interest you. I will be speaking at the event, which promises to be a day filled with invaluable insights and inspiration, focusing on the opportunities in Francophone Africa. Recently, I had the honour of attending a drinks reception with the Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire to the UK, H.E. Sara Amani, who spoke about the promising opportunities in Côte d'Ivoire and that they are open to welcoming British businesses. There's an entire world out there beyond this island.

Here are two key takeaways from our 2024 Africa Product Tour (1) The courage of the product folks in Africa is second to none. Africa is home to some of the most difficult challenges in the world and often we say you have to solve many problems before you can solve the problem you really want to. This makes for an uphill battle for most product teams in Africa, yet they’re doing it! The founders, product teams, and organizations we meet bring courage and tenacity to each day and are actively working to solve some of the most pressing issues with meaningful, product-powered solutions. May this be a reminder that in every environment you work in, don’t forget the courage to try new things, fail and iterate, and solve the hard problems. If not us, then who? (2) The product community on the continent is strong and growing each day. Through organizations like Product Tank, Inspire Africa Conference, and PM Africa, we’ve seen how product people have come together to support one another, learn from each other, and innovate together. We genuinely believe that this sense of community will drive the creation of even more Unicorns coming from Africa. We would encourage everyone to find their product family and community - as I mentioned above, PRODUCT IS HARD, and having the right people around you can make all the difference. Christian Idiodi
