Young people we support face stress daily. Some are worried about their families who are in dangerous situations; others are facing eviction and fear becoming street homeless; many are awaiting huge decisions which will determine their future safety. As well as working with young people to resolve practical issues and providing emotional support through Casework, our partners Helen Bamber Foundation and Off the Record offer expert therapeutic advice and provide young people with tools to manage stress and talk through their feelings and worries. #StressAwarenessMonth

A sombre Sunday. The events in Bondi Junction yesterday were deeply tragic, leaving our community grappling with the shock and sadness of the senseless violence that took lives and critically injured others. In moments of crisis, heroism emerges in unexpected ways. We witnessed incredible acts of bravery from the lone Police officer and also from bystanders, demonstrating remarkable courage and leadership. These actions highlight the strength and resilience inherent in the human spirit. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the psychological impact on loved ones of individuals who have tragically passed away, those who have been injured and those who witnessed the attack, including the broader community. Traumatic events like this can leave lasting emotional scars, affecting mental health and wellbeing. As professionals and community members, it is important to come together to offer psychological support and resources to those affected. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for violence prevention and community safety measures. Working collectively to address the underlying psychological factors contributing to such violence and create a society where everyone feels safe and valued is critical. Let's remember the lives lost, support those who are grieving, and commit to fostering a community built on compassion, understanding, and psychological resilience. Fear - often based on shame, stigma, embarrassment, judgement - stops people from seeking the help they need to support their mental health. That’s why it’s so important to have open conversations about mental health struggles. These conversations can be uncomfortable but they help those in need find ways to be empowered to reach out and ask for help. If you need help, please ask - and if you are asked for help, please listen. *If you are in a crisis situation please immediately call 911 or visit your nearest emergency medical facility and ask someone you trust to stay with you. Text 45645 or call 1-833-456-4566 for The Canada Suicide Prevention Service hotline or visit https://www.talksuicide.ca which provides personal crisis support to Canadians 24/7.* #suicideawareness #suicideawarness #suicidepreventionmonth

In the quiet corners of our communities, there are families grappling with the heavy burdens of trauma. Yet, despite the weight of their struggles, the basic support they desperately need is often just out of reach. We believe that the road to mental wellness begins at home with practical support, such as decluttering and deep cleaning. These actions are more than just chores; they are the first, essential steps toward healing and stability. However, startling data reveals a disheartening truth: vast amounts of government funds are funneled into interventions that, rather than lifting these families up, often bring them no substantial relief. It’s time to challenge the status quo and redirect these resources towards positive, practical support systems. We must raise our voices! It is unjust that those in vulnerable positions are overlooked and under-supported. Every family deserves to thrive in a nurturing environment, yet many are denied this basic right. 🤝 This is the core of our mission at Grant A Smile CIC. We exist to speak out, to step up, and to secure the early intervention supports that can truly make a difference. ✊ Let’s unite for the cause. Let’s demand better. For support, justice, and the dignity every vulnerable family deserves. #MentalWellness #JusticeForFamilies #SupportNotStigma #EarlyIntervention #SpeakUp #ChangeMakers #CommunitySupport #FamilyRights

Chief Executive Officer | Advocate | Social Profit Leader| Fostering Innovation to Address Social Challenges
“Many attempts and deaths by suicide go unreported. Often, they have nowhere to turn, no one to talk to and no way of getting help. With the implementation of 988, we have one more tool in the tool box to make sure people have access to trained professionals” Every year, about 4,500 people in this country end their own lives; that’s 12 people a day. And every day, another 200 people attempt suicide. The federal government provided $156 million over three years to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health to oversee the new 988 line, which is staffed 24 hours a day by call-takers at 39 crisis centres across the country. The new 988 service offers on-demand help to someone who needs it now, rather than waiting for a counselling appointment down the road. #crisisresponse #mentalhealth #suicideprevention

Please share this link with your friends and families living in Canada so if ever required, they can connect with 988. There are times, when we feel that all one needs is to be heard. Millions of thoughts are racing in our mind and when we don't have anyone to talk it leads to mental health illness as we often slip into depression/anxiety. SAVE A LIFE! The implementation of 9-8-8 as an easy-to-remember three-digit number will help reduce barriers to mental health and suicide prevention resources. The number will enable greater access regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status as it will be available from coast to coast, 24/7 and free of charge. Furthermore, the ability to text to 9-8-8 will ensure that people in crisis who are unable to safely call, or prefer texting, are able to obtain counselling. https://988.ca/

Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Prague Integration (Mental Health company for expats and locals)
🚩100 painkillers at once🚩 🚩That is a recipe that nowadays children and teenagers share on social media supporting each other with suicide ideations and instructions. ❌In Prague, University Hospital Vinohrady is facing more and more weekly calls/emergency visits due to an increased amount of suicide tendencies and suicide attempts. ❌More and more often, experts point to the deteriorating mental health of children and adolescents As iDNES.cz writes for the most part, these are children of the middle and upper classes, who feel high demands from their parents and society. 🆘Who is to blame for this one? ✊🏻How are we as a society working towards protecting the most vulnerable ones? ✊🏻How are we as a society developing preventative and crisis programs for teenagers and kids in schools? ✊🏻How are we as a society reducing the pressure of constant imperative for success and recognition? https://lnkd.in/ekC-3g3p #suicide #prevention #mentalhealth #support #services #prague #czechrepublic
