TAtech North America: The TAtech Deal Center While businesses flourish (or not) on their own merits, they can significantly multiply their chances of success by implementing a robust strategy of partnerships and alliances. Networking to win business Nah, it's a waste of time IF you attend the wrong events Don't go to the 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙆𝙚𝙮𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙚 networking event - if only plumbers, architects and shop owners are attending (and you place none of these) Instead, do 'research on the fly' with candidates and clients "Just one more thing, I'm doing some research on the best online and offline networking events for our sector..." Research on the fly is easier than Googling. Running an event isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it is definitely worth doing if you want to stand out in your industry, network with like-minded professionals, and grow your recruitment business. Here are a few things I've personally learned from running a successful annual event: ✅ Themes are important – You need a theme for your event. You need to attract people, and to do so, you need to make it clear what your event is and what they will miss out on if they don’t attend it. To help you decide on your theme, here are some essential questions to ask yourself: What are the key topics that the event will cover? What challenges will you help delegates overcome? What networking will be made possible by attending? ✅ Free vs. paid event – There are two different types, and both have different dynamics. Free events can give you more control over the delegate list, but the likelihood of "no-shows" on the day is far greater if people don't have to pay anything to attend. Paid events come with higher expectations from your delegates, so you have to make sure you deliver on what you say you’ll provide and fulfill expectations. ✅ Your speakers matter – It's crucial you choose your speakers wisely. After all, this line-up has the potential to make or break your event. Your speakers should be instantly credible and recognized experts in their fields, as this will convince people to attend your event.
