We’re bringing Georgetown University's Certificate in Ed Finance to Seattle! No need to travel to DC, as we’re running a cohort Sept. 11-12 at the Gates Foundation. (Helpful timing given widespread financial strain.) Cohorts include district, school and state leaders, school boards, journalists, advocates, or anyone wanting to crack the code on how to leverage school funds to maximize value for students. That’s especially critical right now, with federal relief funds ending, enrollments shifting, and labor costs rising, while student needs remain high. Registration is open. https://lnkd.in/eQEHKzjr (We also have a cohort in DC Sept 24-25, but that one is nearly full.)

Please join us in congratulating our Saver of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year, Osmar Chantre-Rivera! Osmar takes part in our student savings program at Cleveland Academy of Leadership, where students are able to make weekly deposits in real savings accounts and practice good savings habits. The Saver of the Year is determined by the consistency of deposits, not the amount, teaching students that consistency is key to building healthy money habits. #financialeducation #SpartanburgSC #CreditUnion #financialliteracy @CarolinasCreditUnionLeague @SpartanburgSchoolDistrict7

The time is NOW to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA. The U.S. Department of Education and the Biden-Harris administration have announced that April 15-19, 2024 is National FAFSA Week of Action. To date, Minnesota FAFSA submissions are down 20% from last year. This decreasing statistic comes at a time when more students than ever will qualify for Federal Pell Grants, as well as game changing state financial aid programs, including the North Star Promise. Minnesota school leaders, high school counselors, college-bound organizations and stakeholders are encouraged to take action and get involved by: 🏫 Hosting a FAFSA submission event, either in-person or virtually. 📧 Helping to spread the word by sending out emails, texts, or push notifications with info about the FAFSA and how to complete the form. 🗣️ Incorporating FAFSA content and details into newsletters, webinars, and events to increase outreach. I help students attend the right college, at the right price, pursue the right major, and graduate right on time. By following my proprietary process - success can be achieved.
Yesterday morning it was announced that there is going to be a DELAY in the FAFSA Data being downloaded to colleges until sometime in March due to a correction that the programmers are making to fix a COLA increase that was supposed to be included in the NEW Simplified FAFSA before it was released. What does this mean to you? Unfortunately, colleges that high school seniors applied to that only require the FAFSA will now be delaying when they will be sending out their Financial Aid Offers to students. This will, in turn, delay a family's ability to Appeal a Financial Aid Offer, which will delay their ability to make a final college decision, especially if they were counting on receiving some need-based financial aid. For colleges that require the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA, this will delay students receiving their FINAL Financial Aid Offer from the college. Many of these colleges have already sent out preliminary Financial Aid Offers. Needless to say, this is a messy transition to the NEW FAFSA that is taking place - but hang in there because I am confident everything will work out eventually. If you need some help with your FAFSA, feel free to schedule a meeting with me by visiting my website: https://lnkd.in/duNnTrYr Wishing you the very best!
