And just like that, the second year of my PhD is officially over. (here is my reflection on the term) The entire year was dedicated to designing and crafting research proposals. Yes, the whole year. ✔️ 1st term - 8 weeks spent on perfecting specific aims. ✔️2nd term - 8 weeks spent justifying your proposal, aka the significance section. ✔️3rd term- 8 weeks for Approach section 🤣 ✔️4th term - putting everything together! ********************** This term (4th), I had the privilege of taking the course "Problems in the Design of Epidemiologic Studies: Proposal Development and Critique," The course is taught by the newly appointed Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research Professor Elizabeth Selvin. Congratulations to her. She is amazing. 🤩 ******************** This course has been a standout for the year. The course content and discussions have profoundly shaped my understanding of the grant writing and review process. ************** Achieving a perfect GPA wasn't my goal, but I am happy with a 4.0 GPA for the term. My goal was to learn as much as I could. I remained focused on the required courses. I was required to take at least 16 credits and, at most, 22 credits. I took exactly 16! I didn't overwhelm myself. I choose depth over breadth. *************** Congratulations to all those graduating next week. And congrats to all continuing students. #PublicHealth #Epidemiology #PhDJourney #AcademicExcellence #LifelongLearning
