Next week, Youth Futures Foundation and RAND Europe are hosting a webinar in partnership with Employment Related Services Association (ERSA).
During the webinar, we will share findings on evidence-based interventions from other countries to reduce the number of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET). Panellists will then take questions about the international evidence base, and practical applications for the UK.

Today marks the first in a series of ‘Making Sense of the Gap’ online network events for our members where we'll discuss all things awarding gaps and, more specifically, how to eliminate them. To coincide with the launch, we have also published a case study by Dr Hardeep Basra, Associate Professor at De Montfort University, to support QAA Members in reimagining their PG Certs to address inequality in higher educational practice.
QAA Members can read the case study on our Membership Resources Site:

Ahead of the release of our Annual Impact Report, we're reflecting on the diversity of our appointed volunteers.
We believe this diversity is key to the effectiveness of governing boards - ensuring every lived experience is represented and understood.

After the riots: Building the foundations for social cohesion
This paper by the Together Coalition, British Future and Belong-The Cohesion and Integration Network offers a useful analysis of the recent riots, uncovering longer-term trends that underpinned the violent outbreaks.
Now, more than ever, we need to be building bridges, not walls. But in a world teeming with difference and diversity, we can't rely on our instincts alone to build relationships across divides. Learning how to live together must become a long-term priority for our education system, backed up by government support.

The December edition of Impetus Insights is here! 🎅 This is our monthly newsletter, bringing you the latest updates and analysis on education and employment policy, curated by our brilliant Policy team.
In this video, “six things in sixty seconds” (or “6 in 60” as we like to call it), Ben Gadsby shares six key highlights from this month’s edition of Insights:
🔸 Get Britain Working: new White Paper talks about the work of the Youth Employment Group we co-founded, and the Young Persons Guarantee it produced
🔸Ofsted annual report: Our previous research found working from home wasn’t a major driver of school absence, contra media coverage of this report
🔸Delivering well: The New Britain Project summarises lessons from tutoring that should shape the delivery of breakfast clubs
🔸ChatGPT: Quality Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) research shows it can save teachers time in lesson planning, without sacrificing quality
🔸Poverty: The cost of going to school, the Social Metrics Commission finding a rise in child poverty, Andy Harrop trying to explain it – we’ve got it all
🔸It’s impossible to do anything important in the world and not have someone in the world upset at you. A joyful end to 2024...!

Virgin Unite is proud to support Children's Ground and the incredible work it does to help children living with injustice and disadvantage.
Children’s Ground recently convened 'Utyerre Apanpe' - the first ever National First Nations Educators Network. It brought together more than 90 First Nations educators - all working together for national reform in First Nations education.
Communities want real educational reform and Children's Ground want to re-establish systems of education - and for those to be recognised and supported across the country. They want to lead their own system of education - a national First Nations Education system.
“Education is healing. It is a place that we want our children to feel valued, loved and safe in their spirit. Where their knowledge will grow. We want quality education provided to all of our children and young people, on their country and homelands, in a way that recognises and protects their culture and identity.” – Utyerre Apanpe First Nations Education Network, 2024.
Well done to all involved. Please read their full statement to government here: https://lnkd.in/gXwG_bCi
