Strengthening Mental Health with Mindzone 🌱✨ In a time where mental health concerns are on the rise, initiatives from organizations like MINDZONE are becoming increasingly relevant. We are proud to have recently undertaken a project with this dedicated organization committed to ensuring the well-being of future generations. Mindzone utilizes various psychological methods, from cognitive and behavioral therapy to neurolinguistic programming, in their online courses and physical events. By showing young individuals how to work out their mental muscles through focusing on that which gives life meaning, they aim to create a future where mental health is valued as highly as physical health. Their mission is admirable, yet like many NGOs, they faced the challenging trade-off between growing their organization, innovating their product and spending time raising funds. Our collaboration addressed these challenges by conducting thorough market analysis to gain insight into their target demographic, crucial for long-term sustainability and growth, while also facilitating workshops to refine their value proposition towards possible partners. We were thrilled to partner with such a meaningful cause and further our commitment to partnering with progressive projects to create socially sustainable impact. What will you do today that your future self will thank you for? I explored this as part of extending the reach of #mentalhealthawarenessweek, facilitating today's online session of our men's network, MENCOR in EMCOR UK. Starting the session with a 'win of the week' we dived right in to the gratitude and power of acknowledging personal and professional success however big or small. Focusing on movement and its benefits to our mental and physical health, we heard powerful, inspiring stories of how some of the men had completely changed fitness and activity routines to adapt into family and work life. We discussed simple tips like 🎯 Turning on site meetings into walking meetings 🎯 Shortening the ride on the daily commute and walking part way 🎯 Taking lunch breaks outdoors to encourage more activity Bite sized changes that all add up. As always the discussion was thought provoking, lively and always with the odd bit of humour thrown in too. It was also great pointing everyone in the direction of excellent resources and people that promote mental health and encourage getting active. Mental Health UK were a great resource as I researched today's session. 50 years of supporting people's mental health! trundl the walking app that turns your everyday walk into charity donations and more Dan Stanley with his Better-Men Programme and men & mountains. Enabling good men to live better lives. And of course, you can always ask me about our Arctic Experiences with Toby Cowern. Where we immerse you in a safe world of learning in the snow and ice filled natural world around us in Northern Sweden! I'm a firm believer that if you know something, or someone, that will benefit another, then share your knowledge and make it happen. In MENCOR @ EMCOR UK we support each other, encourage, question and make new connections and networks; we all together want to make a difference. PS: my thing I did today that my future self will thank me for, was treating my mum to lunch at a local garden centre. We've not seen eye-to-eye for some time, live 100 miles apart, and a few hours together today was a milestone for repairing and moving forward. #mensmentalhealth #winoftheweek #arcticexperience #bettermen #walking #leadership #facilitiesmanagement #engineering #innovation Lewis Dommett

'Struggling' can be hard to spot. Norwich City Football Club's World Mental Health Day video captures that exact sentiment better than words ever could. On today of all days, it serves as a powerful reminder that we shouldn't rely on signs alone to identify those who need support. Because suicide prevention calls for a proactive approach - particularly in male dominated industries like construction, where workers are 4x more likely to take their own lives and half as likely to seek any kind of help beforehand. Encouraging open communication, providing access to resources, leading supportively, peer support networks and promoting work-life balance is just the start. Beyond that, non-profit organisations like The Lighthouse Charity are vital for the tools they provide to construction workers who need an immediate outline. Incase you or anyone in your network needs them, there are some useful details below: 24/7 helpline: 03456051956 Text 'hardhat' to 85258 #suicidepreventionday #constructionworkers

“Every journey starts with a single step.” Take a read about what Nathan Bingham and I will be up to in a couple of weeks!
2 friends. 5 days. 250 km. 1 goal. Two Berkshire locals are planning an epic walk home to Reading – all the way from Devon. Nathan Bingham and Jack Wright from Reading will aim to complete a 250km trek in just five days, to spotlight Berkshire-based mental health charity, Sport in Mind and the importance of walking on mental health. To celebrate National Walking Month, the duo will hike the south-west coast before arriving in their hometown of Reading (finishing at Forbury Gardens). Across the five days, the pair will walk through the Jurassic Coast, Swanage, Bournemouth, Southampton, Winchester, and Basingstoke. Taking place from April 24-April 28, the pair are aiming to inspire others to plan their own walking activity with friends or family – encouraging supporters to pledge their time over their money – and curate an environment to have meaningful conversation. To mirror their distance, their target is 250 walking ‘pledges’ – one for each km they are covering on their walk. Nathan and Jack commented: “It can be easy to get caught in rush of life where the opportunities to open up and have a proper chat are rare. As life-long friends, we’ve both suffered low points in our lives, and being open with each other has been a lifeline in these moments. Walking offers an ideal space for these conversations and can go a long way in making a day, week or month better.” “With National Walking Month this May we’d love to see others pledge their own walk on our map. It could be a short route around the block or a day adventure in the beautiful countryside but grab a mate and head out regardless.” Get involved! - DO YOUR OWN WALK: Add your walking activity to the pledge website https://lnkd.in/eZHqPxg8 Drop a pin on the map and let’s fill it up to inspire others! - SHARE ON SOCIAL: Post your activity on social media and encourage others – make sure to tag @sportinmind and use #WalkSportInMind - JOIN US EN-ROUTE: Link up with Nathan and Jack during the challenge, get in touch for more details. #WalkSportInMind #MentalHealthMatters

Because today is National Stress Awareness Day, and prolonged stress increases the risk of declining mental health, we want to share this poignant video that we showed our employees during our Environment, Health and Safety Day last week. Not only does it highlight there are moments when it’s unclear when someone is struggling, but it also shows the importance of checking in with colleagues, friends and family. 🤝 💬📞 👉 https://lnkd.in/eVhfBfEm If you or someone you know needs help, don’t forget to reach out and talk.
