MY APPRECIATION POST TO OUR FIRM Often times as employees, we praise our employers when we get sponsored for conferences and get career based opportunities. Those are perfectly fine. However, I appreciate an environment that allows employees to grow, learn and prioritize welfare. This is what our firm Olajide Oyewole LLP (A member of DLA Piper Africa) stands for. About a week ago, my wife had cause to use the HMO service paid for by our firm. I was surprised and happy to find out that the health package for Associates at my level, entitled us to private ward treatment(This included my wife). Personally, I couldn't believe it but it provided me with an opportunity to truly appreciate the work my Firm puts in placing priority on the welfare of staff. That night, I had to do some work and I was more motivated than ever to get it done. The reason was simple- When you add value to the people in your organization, they will add value to your organization. I think this is a lesson for Leaders and Managers- Your job is to take care of the people that gets the job done. True leadership is not about who is in charge, but taking care of those in your charge. In our desire to lead excellent team, leaders must lead with empathy and perspective. Do you agree? For me, today, I'm choosing to be grateful to be part of a team that truly cares. Thank you TEAM OOLLP.
