🌟Breaking Barriers: Preventing Unintended Pregnancies with Technology 🌟 Nearly half of all pregnancies, totaling 121 million each year worldwide, are unintended. For the women and girls affected, the most life-altering reproductive choice—whether or not to become pregnant—is no choice at all, explains the State of World Population 2022 report released by UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Among the myriad reasons behind unintended pregnancies, misused appointments and daily drugs in contraception play a significant role. Integrating appointment reminders and medication alerts within medical health software emerges as a crucial solution! By leveraging these integrated solutions, we can address this multifaceted issue: 1️⃣ Enhancing Adherence: Timely medication reminders help ensure consistent and correct usage of contraceptives, significantly reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies. 2️⃣ Facilitating Follow-ups: Automated appointment reminders enable timely visits, ensuring adjustments or renewals of contraceptive methods, optimizing effectiveness. 3️⃣ Empowering Informed Choices: Accessible reminders not only promote consistency but also educate individuals on the importance of adherence to contraceptive regimens, empowering them with knowledge. The integration of these reminders within medical health software stands as a powerful tool in preventing unintended pregnancies, supporting reproductive autonomy, and promoting overall women's health. Let's champion technological advancements that not only revolutionize healthcare but also foster a world where women and girls have the resources they need for informed decisions about their bodies and futures. #HealthTech #ReproductiveHealth #WomenEmpowerment #Contraception #DigitalHealth #PreventUnintendedPregnancy #HealthcareInnovation

Happy New Year to all - and wishing 2024 to be a year of improved health for women across our region. With our amazing teams in South, East and South-East Asia we in Organon SEA look forward to doing our part in 2024 and be #HereForHerHealth. In their report of the Global health achievements 2023 (who.int) WHO highlights a number of health areas, where 2023 saw major progress. Among these are advances in sexual and reproductive health, where access to modern contraception, fertility treatments and safe delivery are essential. But there is so much more to do, as there is still a stark deficit in investment in women’s health despite an increasing amount of evidence showing that furthering women’s health leads to long-term productivity and economic prosperity for the societies. Together with public and private stakeholders we will year for year make progress on that!

Not to be nosy, but when was your last visit to your OB-GYN? 🤔 Let’s face it - a lot more people need to be seeing their gynecologists for at least a regular annual check up. Sexual and reproductive health and rights (which include more than childbirth and post-natal care, btw!) are a crucial public health and social justice concern. Healthcare providers working in obstetrics and genecology facilitate critical reproductive and sexual healthcare to those who need it, and play an important role in supporting people’s right to bodily autonomy and wellbeing. Given this crucial role, providers working with oppressive and discriminatory mental and practical models can do a lot of individual and collective harm that can look like: ❗Using non-affirming language around SRHR, such as by referring to it only as ‘women’s health’ or ‘family planning’. ❗Passing moral judgement intended to shame, such as over sexual activity or medical history. ❗Discriminating against people based on gender, caste, religion, ability, etc., by refusing treatment or being disrespectful. ❗Retraumatising patients that may have undergone sexual or medical trauma by not identifying and addressing signs of previous or existing trauma, dismissing complaints of pain or discomfort as overreactions or ‘no big deals’ and insisting that it be borne or ‘adjusted with’. So, if you’re looking to find a good doctor to work with, listen up! Here are four good practices that trauma-informed, just OB-GYNs follow. ✅ If you’re a practitioner using a social justice and trauma-informed approach in your work, we’d love to hear from you! Tell us about what you do differently in your practice in the comments. #OneFutureCollective #nurturingradicalkindness #healthcare #gynaec #SRHR

Advocating for change!💔 Two heart-breaking events caused by the disparity in healthcare have fueled my passion for advocating for rural health change this year. I'm sure few of my connections will notice my sudden shift in interest. These events have also strengthened my determination to pursue my career dream of helping solve future problems in reproductive health using my clinical laboratory skills and other acquired abilities. Last year, My uncle tragically lost his pregnant wife few distance to the hospital due to lack of PHC In their community. The lack of access to primary healthcare in their community left them devastated and shattered. Witnessing their pain was a wake-up call for me. But it didn't end there, another woman suffered a similar fate this year, losing her life during childbirth. I can still hear her last words echoing in my mind, "I will surely deliver safely." These haunting words left me traumatized for days, realizing the magnitude of the problem that rural areas face when it comes to healthcare. I cried and beg God to use me for change that night. These heart-breaking experiences have further ignited my passion to make a difference in the lives of those living in underserved communities. Through my career, I want to be an advocate for change, striving to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility and quality, particularly in reproductive health. My vision is to use my clinical laboratory skills and other acquired knowledge to develop innovative solutions that can be implemented in rural areas, ensuring that no woman or family has to suffer due to inadequate healthcare facilities. I believe that everyone, regardless of their location, deserves equal access to quality healthcare, especially during times as crucial as pregnancy and childbirth. While it may seem like an ambitious dream, I am determined to use my skills, knowledge, and resources to contribute towards a healthier future for these communities. By combining my passion for reproductive health with my clinical laboratory expertise, I hope to bring about tangible change and make a lasting impact. Let us join hands and work towards a world where no woman has to fear for her life or that of her unborn child due to the lack of basic healthcare services. Together, we can create a future where healthcare disparities are eradicated, and every individual receives the care they deserve. #telehealth #Telediagnosis #healthcareequality #RuralHealthChange #reproductivehealth

World Patient Safety Day Obstetrics Violence (OBV) is a profound violation of women's rights and reproductive health. The recent Nguvu Collective survey reveals alarming data: 83% of women across 27 counties in Kenya have experienced at least one form of form of OBV including psychological and emotional abuse, physical violence, coercion, and medical neglect, such as denial of care, disregard of pain and unnecessary interventions. This has resulted in various maternal health complications, psychological trauma, infant disability and death. Despite the gravity of these issues, many—including healthcare workers—often dismiss OBV as a less pressing concern. There's urgent need for comprehensive action to protect women's safety and dignity during childbirth. We must confront the denial of Obstetric Violence to truly safeguard women’s rights and ensure their safety and dignity while seeking healthcare.
