Trauma-informed listening is more than just hearing words—it's about creating a supportive space where survivors feel truly heard and validated. It helps you build trust, rapport, and connection with someone who has experienced trauma and goes one step further to avoid triggering or re-traumatizing them by being sensitive to their needs and boundaries. Our One Future Helpline was envisioned with the same intention in mind. As part of our Digital Community Centre, it offers a safe space for you to share your feelings and find support with our trauma-informed peer listeners. This service is entirely pro-bono and available in both Hindi and English. Swipe to see some testimonials from those who have found solace through our helpline and learn why this approach is so impactful.  If you’re looking for someone to listen, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you, every Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM at ☎️ 08043053588. - One Future Collective exists to advance social justice by catalysing people power and just institutions. Your teams can be productive without being miserable. At One Future Collective, we uphold our duty of care to our team as a community and ask, what shifts in how we approach work when we centre the care, safety, and well-being of the people we work with while continuing towards our vision and mission? Here are four things we do to make sure that the way we work works for us. 🧩 We focus on building trust and accountability, encouraging team members to take ownership of their work and how they organise it. Before every new project, we set clear ways of working (such as with a live manifesto) and collective accountability measures. These are routinely revisited and measured against to ensure we’re on track. 🎨 We’re creative! As a group with differing needs and capacities, we’re always looking for ways to make our environments and methods accessible and exciting for all of us. This can look like incorporating different means of rest and joyful movement that work for different people, or using art or other creative methods to navigate particularly difficult planning challenges together. ⌛ We value each other’s time - as a remote team, in-person and synchronous work is organised very intentionally to ensure that we are all focused, present, and productive. This means recognising when a meeting can be an email, and when we need a coffee and a focused chat to pick at a particularly complex issue. 🌿 We take our healing and learning work seriously! One Future Collective’s Healing and Security Initiative includes comprehensive programs for individual and team learning and development, as well as physical, mental and emotional well-being. This is achieved through our internal learning network, bookclub, wellness and connection spaces, insurance program, etc. It may be challenging and our means may still be evolving, but prioritising caring for our teams and communities is crucial. We’re slowly figuring it out, cracking the code on what makes us happiest and most productive. Which of these ideas resonates with you? What else do you think we can do? Tell us in the comments! ⬇️ #productivity #care #tasks #LifeAtOFC #OneFutureCollective #office #OfficeCulture #jobs #careers #work #teams #SocialSectorJobs

What makes mental healthcare queer-affirmative? 🌿 In this article from 2021 by A.S. for One Future Collective in SheThePeople .TV’s Queer Quill column, we examine the ways in which queerphobia pathologises queer identities and makes mental healthcare deeply inaccessible and unsafe for queer folks. What do we need to change to make these spaces and mental healthcare practices safer and more affirmative for queer people? TW: rape, murder, sexual violence at work On August 9, a 31-year old junior doctor was found raped and murdered in a third-floor seminar hall in the Chest Medicine department of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The doctor was resting in the hall after a long shift, since the department does not have any designated rest rooms for staff. So far, one civic volunteer in the hospital has been arrested in connection to the incident. Allegations of evidence tampering are already being made, stating that renovation has started in the building in which the incident took place, around the same time as the Kolkata High Court has ordered for the investigation of the incident to be handed over to the CBI. As well, the institute’s Principal, who did not file a formal police complaint after the incident, was not asked for a statement, and was transferred to National Medical College and Hospital soon after handing in his resignation from his current post, is not permitted to hold the position until further notice. Protests are ongoing at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and nationwide, including the ‘Reclaim the Night’ protest in Kolkata scheduled on the eve of India’s Independence Day. Non-emergency services have ceased in many hospitals. We at One Future Collective strongly condemn this incident and stand in solidarity with those protesting violence in the workplace against medical professionals and others working in hospitals, colleges and other establishments. As a civil society organisation committed to building just institutions and safe, inclusive workplaces, we are appalled at the approach taken by authorities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and those charged with the initial investigation of the incident. Workers have a right to safety in the workplace, including from gender-based, sexual and other forms of violence. Well-lit and surveilled spaces, adequate resting areas, strict adherence to workplace safety policies like the PoSH Act, 2013 and routine behavioural change-focused work with teams are all crucial to maintain working environments where employee safety is prioritised and those vulnerable to violence are not held responsible for being violated. We urge you to learn, act and speak up against sexual violence at work and stand in solidarity with the medical fraternity in seeking safety in their places of work. Check the post to find out what you can do to learn and act today.  #Kolkata #RGKarMedicalCollege #posh #safety #protest #act #advocate #solidarity #KolkataHC #HighCourt
