Did you know nearly one-third of solo shows in US museums go to artists represented by just five galleries? So why does diversity matter? Diversity is like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room. It brings new ideas, new perspectives, and new ways of seeing the world. It challenges us to think differently, to question our assumptions, and to open our minds and our hearts to new possibilities. Diversity isn't just good for artists, it's good for all of us. When we embrace diversity in the art world, we're not just enriching our cultural landscape, we're building a more inclusive, more vibrant society for everyone. That's why ODBK matters, that's why your donation and your support are paramount now more than ever. #ODBK #nonprofit #contemporaryart #fyp #donate #diversitymatters #DiversityAndInclusion

Vital Arts exists to address the multifaceted challenges that artists face today, but we cannot do it alone. We need your support to continue this critical work. Your donation, whether $5, $50, or $500, helps more artists pay their rent without sacrificing meals. It supports city-wide policies that value artists, provides resources for arts professionals, and fosters mind-changing conversations with stakeholders. Bit by bit, we are building a thriving arts ecosystem. Bit by bit, we are improving conditions for every artist, arts worker, and resident with a system of care and a big-picture approach. Bit by bit, we are creating a world that truly values the arts as vital. https://lnkd.in/gpyYdcjk

Making giving easier to fight poverty and enrich lives in County Durham and the Tees Valley, empowering our #SmallButVital local charities and the communities they serve.
Good to see our partners during #Lumiere biennial art festival in Durham sharing their pain of securing funding. Put simply, it is not easy. We have similar challenges too, albeit through conversation with donors. Listening is the key there, noticing what interests them and what doesn't! As a funder, and Emily alludes to them, our biggest moans are: 👉 Not reading the guidelines - too many who are not eligible waste their time applying. Often, they are in a different part of the country so could never apply to County Durham Community Foundation funds. 👉 Not answering the questions - we put them in for a reason (we are accountable for millions of pounds of other peoples' money) so don't cut & paste from prior applications giving answers that are not relevant. It really doesn't convince a donor to fund you if you happen to leave in a wrong year or mention a staff member who is long gone! Or worse still, leave a different funder in the application when you say what you will do with our charitable grant. We are an Institute For Voluntary Action Research flexible funder. We do also try to be accommodating, get on the phone and ask for clarification if we have questions that could mean we could readily reject applications. But many funders do not: they are a closed shop, so if you get it wrong you are out. Thanks Emily for getting a conversation going. Any thoughts from the many #smallbutessential community groups we fund? You know me, always happy to listen and learn what we do wrong as well as what we think we get right as a funder?! #charity #grants #countydurham

CEO | Author & Speaker | Who's Who in America Honoree | Helping Non-Profits Align Their People And Processes With Their Vision
The answer is A. Philanthropy has ancient roots. The word "philanthropy" itself comes from the Greek words "philos," meaning love, and "anthropos," meaning humankind. In ancient civilizations like Greece, Rome, and China, wealthy individuals often donated to public projects such as building infrastructure, temples, and theaters. #PureMomentumConsulting #NonProfitLeaders #NonProfitManagement #Sustainability #BuildingCapacity #NonProfitLeadership #Philanthropy #SocialImpact

Can you help ?
Can you help? 🙏 After 18 months of working on my small business I'm ready to expand further. To do this I need some extra space to launch new product ranges and fulfill bigger orders for stockists worldwide. 🌍 If every one of my connections on my LinkedIn donated £1.50 each I would have more than enough to rent an artists studio for 12 months so I thought it was worth a shot! 🤷♀️ Anything you can contribute, however small, would be much appreciated to help me follow my dream. Fundraising is hard! This week I'm sharing top tips for writing grant applications on the Artichoke blog. It would be great to hear from the grant-makers, trusts and foundations in my network. What would be your advice to prospective applicants? What are the main do’s and don’ts? · Do your research – read the guidelines carefully and only apply if your project meets the criteria · Prioritise – you won’t be able to apply for every opportunity · Leave enough time – check how often trustees meet · Be prepared – look at all the questions before you start writing · Tailor your application – reflect the funder’s interests and priorities · Have a clear structure – tell a story from beginning to end · Learn to love budgets - another way to tell your story in numbers · Be realistic about your costs and potential to raise match funding · Rejection is ok, keep trying – today's fundraising landscape is extremely competitive. Try not to be discouraged and keep applying for opportunities! Check out the full article on the Artichoke blog below.
