We are proud to offer internships to women across Cook County through our UP Welding Program! We have partnered with Opportunity Works to find internships – and eventually viable careers – and training and resources to women. Right now, we have placed a few women in welding internships with Industrial Fence, where they are developing skills in welding, manufacturing, and IT. Industrial Fence Inc has been in business for 25 years starting from humble beginnings in a mobile office trailer to 2 large buildings with over 10,000 square feet of working space in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood. They specialize in metal fabrication for security barrier fencing, roadway railings, chain link and palaside fencing. Some of Industrial Fence's work includes pedestrian bridges from the iconic River Walk, the railing on the lake front for the bike paths, and the 41st Street Bridge. #YWCAChicago #UPWeldingProgram #InternshipsForWomen #OpportunityWorks #WomenInWelding #WeldingInternships #IndustrialFence #ChicagoManufacturing #MetalFabrication #WeldingSkills #CareerDevelopment

Intern Spotlight! ✨ Name: Amaresh Kumar Tavva What school do you attend? I am getting my Masters of Science in Construction Management at Clemson University. How did you find your internship here at Ruby-Collins? I found this internship through one of my friends who was an intern last year! Then I applied online and started the interview process. Why did you choose a major/internship in the construction industry? I have a passion for working on real and practical projects. There is a deep sense of pride and satisfaction that comes with building structures from seeing a project through conception to completion. What do you do outside of school for fun? I love reading books, traveling to new places, learning how to invest, and watching lots of movies. What is your favorite part of your internship so far? My favorite part of this internship is working in the trenchless division. Being involved in a tunneling project has always been one of my dreams. What was your childhood dream job? To work as a Marine Engineer! #TeamWork #RubyCollins #Georgia #Intern #Internship #ApplyOnline

👋Meet Mamadu “Djulde” Dja! Every year, two high-preforming welding students are given the opportunity to complete an internship at the WAVS vocational school the following year. This year, Mamadu “Djulde” Dja was one of the former students selected for the internship. Interns support instructors in class by training students, and also help with producing welding products that are sold to the community to help support the school. After completing their internship, interns are awarded a starter kit with essential welding and metalwork tools to help them start their own business. Mamadu had this to say about the welding course: “At first, I saw it as a difficult course. Whenever I would see the things we would do, I would say, ‘Yeah, this is a difficult thing to do.’ But now that I’m doing it, I know that nothing is difficult if I really want to do it!” Learn more about sponsoring a student like Mamadu at wavschools.org/one-student. #tvet #jobskills #welding #welder #weldingstudent #weldingtraining #equip #educate #educateandempower

This week, we started with a study visit from the Construction and Technical Schools Group students in Stargard. Engaging with the younger generation is a cornerstone of our approach, and here's why it's not just beneficial but crucial for our business: During their visit, the students examined the intricate process of prefabricated bathroom production from the ground up. This wasn't just a theoretical lesson; the students stepped into the shoes of quality control inspectors, comparing technical drawings directly with the actual bathroom modules. This hands-on experience is invaluable for the students, who gained practical insights and skills, and our company. Why is this engagement so critical? Firstly, it bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, preparing a skilled workforce ready to hit the ground running. Secondly, by opening our doors to these young minds, we're fostering a culture of innovation and fresh perspectives that can drive our company forward. Lastly, it strengthens our ties with the community, especially as many of our employees are proud Construction and Technical Schools Group alums in Stargard. We're not just investing in the potential workforce of tomorrow; we're actively participating in shaping it. This synergy between education and industry is where true innovation and growth lie, and we're excited to see where these bright young minds will take us in the future. See you at the internships! 🙂 #IndustryMeetsEducation #BuildingTheFuture #EcoReadyBath #CommunityEngagement

On 11th September 2024, I successfully completed my summer internship with #BrittainHadley. I would like to extend a special thanks to the incredible team at #BrittainHadley for their continuous support and guidance throughout the internship. During this time, I had the privilege of working on a variety of projects that allowed me to develop invaluable skills such as #problemsolving, #criticalthinking, #attentiontodetail, and #communicationskills. One of the most notable projects I contributed to involved replacing combustible cladding with non-combustible cladding on a seven-story building, and another project was carrying out repairs to a listed building, which I worked on from start to finish. I also carried out multiple site inspections across different locations to ensure that each project was progressing smoothly and met high standards. Writing detailed site reports was a key part of my role, allowing me to further develop strong communication and technical writing skills. Throughout my time at #BrittainHadley, I gained #projectmanagement, #teamwork, #communication and #siteinspection experience, enhancing my understanding of the construction process from inception to completion. I’m excited to apply these skills as I continue to grow and take on new challenges. #Internship #Construction #BrittainHadley #ProblemSolving #ProjectManagement #BrittainHadley #LearningAndGrowth #BuildingSafety #StructuralEngineering #CommunicationSkills #CivilEngineering
