Internships play a pivotal role in shaping the future of college students by providing invaluable real-world experience and practical skills that cannot be acquired solely through academic coursework. These opportunities offer students a glimpse into their chosen field, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional setting, develop crucial professional networks, and gain insights into industry practices and trends. They enhance students' resumes, making them more competitive in the job market upon graduation. Overall, internships serve as a bridge between academia and the professional world, equipping students with the tools and experiences necessary for success in their respective careers. #Internships #NationalInternshipMonth #CareerServices #ProfessionalDevelopment #StudentProfessionalDevelopment #ETS

Internships are the perfect opportunity to explore career interests while simultaneously inviting exponential learning and personal growth. Here are 3 things I have learned throughout my internship at BIC so far: 1. It's not always about knowing the answer, but rather knowing how to find it: As interns, we aren't expected to be experts in our field, and it is okay to say "I don't know" to the questions we get asked. What matters is the initiative we take afterwards to seek out the answer with the resources we have available to us. 2. Curiosity is a catalyst for growth; ask as many questions as you have and be a "sponge:" You will have LOTS of questions as an intern, and the right workplace will always encourage you to ask them. Absorb as much information as you can as it will only make you that much more knowledgeable. 3. If you enjoy what you are doing, it won't feel like work at all: Every day I wake up feeling excited to come into work, with my passion for HR only being further ignited through this internship opportunity. I have never felt more supported being a part of #TeamBIC, and I strongly believe that everyone deserves to find a career that excites them too.

When we think of multinational companies, we picture growth and opportunity. But many interns struggle to find full-time jobs after their internships, which raises an important issue. Internships should help build careers, yet many talented people end up in a loop of temporary positions without clear job offers. MNCs need to rethink how they support interns. By creating paths that lead to full-time roles, we can build a stronger and more inclusive workforce. Let’s work together to make sure every internship leads to a bright future. #InternshipOpportunities #MNCs #CareerGrowth #Inclusion

Internship programs that offer fair compensation and unique learning and growth opportunities are essential for employers looking to build their early talent pipeline and position themselves as an employer of choice among Gen Z candidates. As we read through nominations for this year's Top 100 Internship Programs List, it was great to see how hundreds of employers are thoughtfully growing their programs and working to provide unique and valuable experiences for their interns. Here are four things that stood out after reading through the nominations: 1. 99% of the employers that nominated their programs offer paid internships, with a growing portion providing additional benefits like employee assistance programs, mental health resources, healthcare and wellness benefits, housing stipends, relocation assistance, and even 401K matching. 2. Many programs have adopted an outcome-centered approach with a focus on providing full-time employment opportunities and increasing conversion rates. 3. Many employers are getting their intern alumni involved through alumni-led panels, mentorship for current interns, and exclusive alumni professional networks. 4. Employers put a heavy emphasis on gathering feedback during and after their programs to make improvements and remain attractive employers for Gen Z talent. In doing so, they're tailoring their programs to intern needs and providing better development opportunities. #nationalinternday

This month, we released an insight-packed new report: The 2024 Internship Equation Report. The findings gathered from a survey of global employers delve deep into the pressing challenges and resulting actionable opportunities within the internship landscape, particularly the alarming skills gap facing today’s workforce and entry-level professionals. 📊 Top Takeaways: Only 42% of employers report that interns have the technical skills necessary for entry-level positions. Similarly, only 45% of employers believe interns possess the crucial soft skills required for success. These findings underscore a significant and troubling disconnect between the academic preparation of early-career talent graduating from universities worldwide and the real-world demands of today’s professional environments. Why does this matter? A study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers highlights that while 80% of education providers believe graduates are job-ready, only about half of employers agree. This report set out to investigate that further by diving into employer opinions on hiring and managing interns and why such barriers present themselves. The gap between how educators and employers perceive graduate career readiness thus affects how successfully new talent enters the workforce. 🔗 Why should you download this report? The Internship Equation Report not only outlines these challenges but also showcases innovative strategies and best practices that leading global companies are implementing to enhance their internship programs and better prepare interns for the workforce. We’ve packed the report with actionable recommendations to bridge this gap, enhancing both intern preparedness and your company’s competitive edge. 📥 If you want to understand how to adapt your talent acquisition strategies to the evolving job landscape, I highly recommend you download the full Internship Equation Report and join the conversation of preparing the workforce of the future: https://lnkd.in/eS576U8z #InternshipEquation #FutureOfWork #TalentDevelopment #VirtualInternships

An internship can be a great start to a career with your organization. Make it even better by recognizing and appreciating their efforts. Over 80% of employees say recognition impacts their drive to succeed. 71% believe more recognition would prevent them from leaving. Interns, despite not being full-time employees, feel the same way. Appreciation validates their contributions and sparks their interest in the field.
