This article offers insights into the alarming rates of #trafficking among runaway and homeless youth (RHY) in the U.S. Based on the Atlanta Youth Count 2018, 39.9% of surveyed youth aged 14-25 experienced some form of trafficking while homeless. Labor exploitation, including coerced labor (29.3%) and fraud (25.2%), were even more prevalent than commercial sexual exploitation (15.6%). Particularly vulnerable groups include women, transgender, and gender nonconforming youth, as well as those with prior system involvement or extended periods of #homelessness. These findings call for urgent attention to the policies and research needed to better protect RHY from exploitation.
