I challenge any carrier out there to show that you offer the training that we do for CDL holders, new or experienced. We hire a ton of new CDL holders right out of school. Not because of costs savings, but as drivers get experience, they tend to get complacent. So hiring newer drivers, they tend to have less bad habits to break. One of our policies is absolutely no phone usage while driving, whether hands free or not. We use AI cameras that detect it. This is the one policy that tends to get a lot of drivers. When we hire a new CDL holder, they will be in training at a minimum 90 days. After 90 days, if they are close but not quite there, we will give them another 30 days. Then, when we cut them "free", we make sure for the next couple of weeks that they mirror another driver. I will have them follow another driver to deliveries. For experienced drivers, they will be in training for up to 60 days. I have paid for 2 guys to go to school as I thought they fit with our company culture but simply could not afford to go to school. They trained for us during the day, and took classes in the evening for 3 months. Then when they graduated, were in training an additional 45 days. In 6.5 years, we have had 4 accidents. Only 1 was by a new driver that was put in a bad situation by our previous Ops Manager. He was given an overweight 20' container, sitting on one of our triaxle chassis, but never told/trained to extend the chassis to 40' to make it more stable. Another accident was one of our guys that has 30 years experience. He was cut off in a no passing zone by a grain truck. The third accident was a pool chassis that had a hub fail and at a stop light, the tires broke off and rolled to a van sitting at the opposite corner and cracked her bumper. And finally, the 4th accident was me pulling up to a stop light and someone not paying attention pulled out of a truck stop and ramming the side of my truck. Is there any carrier out there that comes close to the training we offer?

Pennsylvania's resolution to allow truck drivers under 21 to haul loads over state lines is a contentious one.
