https://lnkd.in/g2REkVrD Aluminum Dome Roof Manufacturer : CTS GLOBAL OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, has recently commissioned a new crude oil tank on the Petrobrazi refinery platform in Romania. This tank, designed and built according to the latest standards, is the largest of its kind in the country and enhances safety during its use. It’s the biggest crude oil tank ever built in Romania. The tank boasts several key features, including double walls and a double base, an aluminum dome cover, and an inner floating roof to retain vapour emissions. These design elements contribute to increased safety and protection. The construction of the tank took approximately two years, with investments exceeding EUR 23 million. One noteworthy aspect of the project is its positive environmental impact. By reducing vapor emissions to near zero, the new tank contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable operation. Its total capacity of 60,000 cubic metres allows for the storage of raw material equivalent to 1.2 million fuel fills. The aluminum dome, the largest structure of its kind in Romania, is an impressive construction weighing 53 tonnes. It stands at a height of 15 metres and has a diameter of 72 metres. The dome was lifted into position using a pneumatic system consisting of 28 lifting devices, which was a first in Romania. #bewareofhucksters #storagetanks #tankstorage #tankfarm #tankterminals #tankcleaning #domes #refinery #refineryoperations #oilandgasindustry #api653 #api650 #inspection #qualityassurance #aluminum #aluminiumprofile #aluminumextrusion #sixsigma #manufacturing #waterindustry #desalination #desalinationplants #pvv #epc #epcprojects #engineeringdesign #valueengineering #safety #emissionscontrol #emissionsreduction #safetystandards #machining #mechanicalengineering #mechanicaldesign #api #asme #eemua159

One reason Arbo thinks #VentureGlobal Plaquemines #LNG is behind schedule ⬇ Like Venture Global's Calcasieu Pass project, the Plaquemines facility uses modular train technology consisting of 0.626 mtpa (million tons per annum) liquefaction modules fabricated offsite and delivered to the site fully assembled. After the second stage, the project will have a capacity of 20 mtpa coming from 36 modular units, configured in 18 blocks. The difference in technology from other terminals, particularly that the modules are pre-tested before delivery to the site, could theoretically hasten the authorization process. But as we have seen in Calcasieu Pass, it could also result in a longer commissioning period. To add additional color to this potential technological outlier, we compared timelines for Plaquemines and Calcasieu Pass, and found that certain key authorization orders we typically see in other LNG projects were absent from the public record for Calcasieu Pass. This could be related to the modular design, or the result of the privileged nature of some filings in the FERC process for LNG facilities. We are watching Plaquemines closely to see if it follows the same pattern. Comparing the timelines for both projects based on the last key order they have in common — the construction of aboveground piping — applying the fastest commissioning timeline from Calcasieu Pass (23 months) would put Plaquemines at the commissioning phase on June 7, 2025, 701 days behind its projected in-service date. The main conclusion we can draw from this analysis is that Plaquemines was able to construct its facilities faster — it already requested to commission its first LNG cargo, so we know the facilities are largely complete. Calcasieu Pass’s lengthy commissioning process also adds contextual value because it is the result of reliability challenges. Coupled with #FERC’s denial of Venture Global’s request to commence commissioning and introducing hazardous fuels due to pending safety inspections, it could indicate remaining regulatory hurdles and that offsite fabrication and testing may not decrease ultimate time to in service.

The Gorgon SCS project on Australia’s Northwest Shelf began injection in July 2020 and is one of the largest active projects, with a nominal injection capacity of 4 Mt per year. A plant on Barrow Island receives feed gas from the Gorgon and Io/Jansz Fields and separates the CO2 from natural gas. The CO2 is then injected into sandstones of the Lower Dupuy Formation at a depth of approximately 2,500 m (See Figure below). In order to reduce pressure build-up in the storage reservoir, brine is extracted from the Lower Dupuy and reinjected into shallower sands of the Barrow Formation. Unfortunately, sand influx into the brine re-injection wells resulted in a shortfall in injected water volumes and hence, in the volumes of brine extracted from the storage reservoir. This, in turn, increased the reservoir pressure in the Lower Dupuy, limiting CO2 injectivity and prompting the regulator to impose an injection rate limit to mitigate additional risks. Subsequently, Gorgon has not been able to meet its contractual obligations. The project had to acquire and surrender carbon credits to offset its target shortfall of 5.23 Mt of CO2 at an estimated cost in excess of US$100 million. Gorgon is an example of a potential risk (sand influx) that was not sufficiently addressed in well planning. Additional analysis, including a possible pilot project, would have been useful in identifying the possible severity of this issue and how to best mitigate it. What are your thoughts on this project? I’m honored to be part of this incredible event, where I’ll deliver sessions focused on: 🔹 Safety and Emergencies – Protect your people, assets, and profitability. 🔹 Profitability – Maximize the returns from your hydroprocessing units. 🔹 Troubleshooting – Solve complex challenges and avoid costly downtime. I selected these topics to tackle refineries' most common and impactful challenges. To highlight their importance, let me share a recent experience with a refinery that reached out for guidance on improving their hydrotreater's performance: They initially believed that investing in expensive, high-performance equipment was the solution. However, after a thorough review of their unit’s performance, we identified two key improvement areas: 1️⃣ Shutdown Practices: Improper shutdown procedures were impacting the unit performance. 2️⃣ Corrosion Problems: Severe corrosion in key unit sections was reducing reliability and performance. Instead of suggesting costly upgrades, we advised them to address these foundational issues. These kinds of practical, results-driven solutions are exactly what we’ll explore at the seminar. 📅 When & Where: 🗓 February 24-26, 2025 📍 Hilton Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand 👉 Sign up by January 17, 2025: https://lnkd.in/dzZbnTTn Let’s work together to unlock the full potential of your refinery. See you in Pattaya! #Hydroprocessing #Refining #Troubleshooting #Hydrotreating #Hydrocracking #Seminar #Topsoe
