I'm going to go back through my CV and try to find the last time there was a job hat had induction training.... Ok pre-2004 at IBM. Now I understand that I could be an exception the times I have been headhunted for my skills and experience vastly outnumber the times I have been placed by a recruiter through any application process. But, are inductions so rare? I realise with a number of those positions I was headhunted for one of the basic things I have had to do is rework the induction so even the most basic levels of compliance would be done (like walking your employees through the fire evacuation procedure, where to evacuate to, where the bathroom is). I had hoped that my track record with at risk projects and critical customers were the exceptions not the rule. At IBM before I left I did actually rework the entire onboarding process from 2004 for new hires to streamline it actually. Maybe people are scared to show me their induction processes.

Boasts "Generous remuneration package" but fails to be transparent and disclose the details of the package prior to candidates taking the time to apply. Ick..🚫

“Other duties as assigned” We plan to give you more and more work without any additional compensation, promotions, or title changes. Or any use of terms like Unicorn, Ninja, Rockstar…

I can resonate with all of these ! Also asking for 5 years experience and a degree but is entry level.

Got to love the ones advertised as fully remote then say 3 days in the office and 40% travel expected.

When I see these I have to remember not to look at them how I see them: "hit the ground running" to me means I can immediately add value while I get up to speed.

A great post Zak! Might I add "You had a good onboarding...." meaning you should now have mastered and learned everything about your new role within a week 🤣
