The session aimed to equip employees with essential skills for handling various incident categories, including unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, accidents, and near misses. A key highlight was the "Jom Tegur" initiative, which encourages employees to intervene when they observe unsafe acts or conditions, fostering a proactive HSE culture. HQ/19/SHO/00/02430 | I'm passionate about transforming perceptions of health, safety, and environment in workplaces | My goal is to foster a proactive safety culture everywhere I go. 🌍✈️📊📚
"Lets talk abaout OSH-Coordinator in Malaysia" As we are aware, the impending OSHA Malaysia 2022 amendment is scheduled to be enforced on June 1, 2024, bringing forth a slew of alterations and updates. Notably, one such amendment pertains to the appointment of an OSH-C, stipulating that every Principal with more than 5 employees must employ 1 OSH-C within their company. Consequently, from my perspective, this development carries both got pro's and con's implications. Pro's: The requirement for OSH-C has the potential to foster a stronger safety and health culture within industries. By mandating the presence of these OSH-C, there is an opportunity for heightened vigilance and adherence to safety protocols, ultimately leading to improved workplace conditions. Con's: From an academic standpoint, it's notable that the qualifications required to become an OSH-C are relatively minimal, necessitating only a Malaysian SPM certificate, attainment of 18 years of age or older, and a 1 year of industry experience. Given these modest prerequisites, questions arise regarding the prospects for students who have completed higher education such as diploma, degree, or master in Malaysia. Will graduates from universities be impacted by these entry requirements? What are your opinions, folks? Should the requirements for OSH-C certification be reevaluated, or do you believe the current criteria are satisfactory? #OSHA #Malaysia #OSH-Coordinator #Letsdiscuss

This is a very good example of how an emergency drill should be conducted. With the right amount of time, management, and funding, this kind of emergency drill can be implemented in our own company.
Inspector of Factories & Machinery (J41/J44) at Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), Pulau Pinang | Major Hazard Division |
Improvements in compliance with CIMAH (Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards) regulations can indeed be attributed to effective enforcement by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) or its equivalent regulatory bodies. When regulatory authorities enforce standards rigorously, it sends a clear message to industries about the importance of adhering to safety protocols and regulations. This, in turn, motivates companies to prioritize safety measures to avoid penalties, legal consequences, and, most importantly, to protect their workers and the surrounding community from potential hazards. Below is the video of Off-Site ERP conducted by one of Major Hazard Installation in Penang involving DOSH,HAZMAT, PDRM, APM, KKM& MPSP(PBT). #dosh #enforcement #compliance

DOSH-factory-worker-found-dead-in-pond-while-unclogging-pipe-in-Penang, Malaysia. * A 41 year old frontline worker has died when apparently attempting to unclog a pipe in a pond. * Condolences to his family, friends and work colleagues. * The content of this press report raises questions about "maintenence efficiency", "working alone", "site rules", "way of doing things" or safe working culture in the box manufacturing factory. * Quite rightly, DOSH have placed a stop work order on the area of work, asked the factory operator to conduct an investigation into the cause, and report back. * A key topic in the discussion will be HIRARC because applied efficiently, this risk management process would identify all plant, all tasks, all hazards, the levels of risk, and how to control them. * Accident investigations are not straight forward if "all the learnings" are to be obtained from them. * The factory owners/management should take this tragic case, and use it to make sweeping changes to their workplace safety management, addressing key requirements under the recently introduced, OSH (amendment) Act 2022.
