Games, like other art forms (films, photos, and paintings), can be a way to honor major historical events. World of Warships (Wargaming) was included in last week's USA Today feature commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The game and a new documentary co-produced with Force Blue, "Frog Fathers: Lessons from the Normandy Surf" are accessible, engaging ways to observe D-Day. https://lnkd.in/gPyFthBu

This photo has been the BBC, Newsweek, The Independent, BBC Sky and Night Magazine, Ottawa Citizen, and more, primarily as a concept photo for SETI or space aliens. However, I always thought its actual history was far more interesting. When exploring these facilities, I always thought the networking equipment from the age of the ARPA Net was particularly interesting. WALDORF, MD - OCTOBER 10, 2010 : The Waldorf NRL satellite communications terminal now stands abandoned, illuminated only by starlight. This facility, with its 60-foot parabolic dish antenna, was constructed by the Naval Research Laboratory in the mid-1960s at a former Nike missile site near Waldorf, Maryland. During the Vietnam War, the Waldorf facility played a crucial role in an operation known as Compass Link. Established by the Defense Communications Agency, Compass Link was designed to transmit high-quality target photography from Vietnam to Washington, DC. The need for Compass Link arose from a specific incident: the Soviets claimed that two of their ships were damaged during a U.S. strike. Initially, President Johnson denied the accusation. However, when the Soviets released photographic evidence, Johnson recognized the necessity of faster access to military images from Vietnam. Compass Link addressed this need by facilitating rapid transmission of imagery. From Waldorf, these images were sent via landline directly to the White House and the Pentagon, providing real-time information to top U.S. officials. The system remained in extensive use until the end of the Vietnam War. --- I am be posting photography twice a week. It'll include a mix of current and archive photography. Most of the evidence of Hamas atrocities against Israel on October 7th and thereafter come from Hamas and Hamas-aligned photographers, although some of the atrocities filmed came from the cameras of the hostages themselves which Hamas used to send the photos and videos of rape, decapitation, and execution to the families of the victims. The IDF has also photographed scenes on the ground and from the air of our operations in Gaza, and shown them publicly. Why doesn't Hamas or any Gazan have photographic evidence to support their claim of genocide on our part? During WWII, in Germany, there was a large amount of photographic evidence of German genocide against Jews. The German photo below shows what photographic evidence of genocide looks like. Where is the Hamas or Gazan photographic evidence? The short answer is that there is none.

Dear History and Infographic Enthusiasts! In commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland, which was defending itself against the Germans, I have prepared an infographic that presents this pivotal moment in our history in an accessible and visually appealing manner. On September 17, 1939, while Poland was still heroically resisting the German invader, the Red Army crossed the eastern border, striking at the already weakened forces of the Republic. This blow to the back dramatically worsened the situation for Polish defense, which had been engaged in fierce battles with the superior forces of the Third Reich from the first day of the war. Despite previous promises, Poland's allies – Britain and France – did not respond quickly enough. France limited its actions to propaganda and minor movements on the Western Front, while Britain adopted a policy of waiting, not engaging its forces in a significant offensive. As a result, Poland was left to fight alone against two powerful adversaries, which ultimately led to its defeat and the beginning of a tragic period of occupation. I invite you to view the infographic, comment on it, and share it – let's remind ourselves of these important events and their consequences for Poland and Europe.

This is a very interesting "photography" of the fight in #Avdiivka. This #CenterForInformationResilience's report is really enlightening. Good combination of #GEOINT and #OSINT. People call this a "#stalemate" but as far as chess goes, a stalemate ends the game immediately with a draw. Whatever it will be, this is not what "a draw" or "a stalemate" it looks like, and Avdiivka's fight is all but a "stalemate". https://lnkd.in/eAPVPDx4

**The Night Watch** Picture this: the chaotic anticipation in the air as a militia group awaits instructions from their General, captured with compositional mastery in Rembrandt's timeless masterpiece, 'The Night Watch.' It's a painting that has always held a special place in my heart, a masterpiece in the annals of art history. As I delved into the realm of creative ideation, a daring concept took root in my mind – to showcase the Zulus on the international stage. I yearned for something extraordinary, a project pulsating with artistic strength and originality. The parallels between the bygone Dutch militia and the contemporary Zulus were too captivating to ignore. Thus, the audacious decision was made to recreate 'The Night Watch' with the Zulu warriors. In the heart of Zululand, much like Rembrandt's militia, they protect their land under the leadership of their King and Commander. Setting the stage for this ambitious venture, a crucial aspect was ensuring authenticity. I tasked my team with the challenge of locating and onboarding genuine, practicing Zulu warriors – individuals whose cultural presence is as formidable as their warrior spirit. Kwa-Zulu Natal teems with 'cultural Zulus,' but I sought the kind of warriors whose authenticity you wouldn't want to accidentally offend. Telling a compelling story through photography hinges on a trifecta of elements: authentic subjects, true-to-narrative locations, and an overarching authenticity that withstands the test of time. Phakela, my main subject, embodies all these qualities. Getting to know him was an honor; he's not just a warrior but an inspirational leader, a torchbearer of cultural values passed down by his forefathers. An exemplar and role model for the young Zulus who look up to him. A heartfelt appreciation extends to my on-the-ground team and the 26 Zulu warriors who embraced this endeavor with unwavering determination. Weathering the challenges posed by the elements, they showed up, not just as subjects, but as troopers eager and enthusiastic. Without their commitment, this bold vision could never have materialized. Here's to rewriting narratives, honoring cultures, and capturing moments that transcend time – all under the watchful gaze of 'The Night Watch' reborn. Image Title: The Night Watch Editions: 10 Limited Sizes Available: - Regular: 50 1/2" x 38 1/4" - Large: 71 1/2" x 54" Framed: Yes Price: Available on Request
