“A climate safe future is a necessary condition for peace, but we won’t achieve a climate safe future without peace” I came across this thought provoking TED talk by Olivia Lazard covering the often forgotten about close coupling between decarbonisation and geopolitics. It reminded me that as we push for and progress to a clean energy future, it is important to pay attention to the unintended consequences. It introduces the “Co-City Protocol,” an experimental method based on five principles of institutional design that, when maximized, ensure greater sustainability.
