Eliminating Malaria by 2035: A historic public-private partnership to 'Eliminate Malaria' has launched in Pakistan. Zenysis is honored to have been part of the journey that led to the creation of the Malaria Consortium (MEC), led by Aga Khan University, in collaboration with the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE). We celebrate all involved in the MEC symposium. We are extremely pleased to have presented the findings of the Zenysis data scoping and partners landscape report to the Honorable Minister for Health and Malaria stakeholders from Pakistan and abroad at this forum. We look forward to supporting the MEC in establishing Thatta District as a model district for malaria elimination. Here is an invitation for a Saturday... tune into Day 3 of the 2024 National Citizens Inquiry held in Regina. If you see this post today (June 1) you can follow along with the testimonies all day live here: https://lnkd.in/gT6kCch9 If you come in after the fact, or just want short clips of single speakers, follow as they are added here: https://lnkd.in/gYhctAGk I am sharing my note-taking here: https://lnkd.in/g2iaVB6E All of this is going on in the TOTAL ABSENCE of mainstream media who are obviously still strangled by the idea that the best way to fight so-called misinformation is to totally ignore the evidence. This flies in the face of the Global Declaration on Information Integrity Online that Canada initiated and that was posted in October 2023, which states that to counter disinformation we need to "Promote and respect pluralistic media and journalism, and protect access to media content". So if you can drop a line to others to invite them to take a peek at the expert and lay person testimonies running all day, you are doing your part to help counter disinformation! BOMBSHELLS so far: - a single CBC email completely shut down the voice of a former ON Chief Officer of Public Health (Dr. George Chabas) - a sitting SK MLA testified that there was no government discussion re: the imposition of the Vax mandate for government employees at all. It was simply mandated right after a meeting between the SK, AB, ON etc. Premiers and PM Justin Trudeau. (MLA Nadine Wilson) - a gasterenterologist who regularly did clinical trials with the FDA was completely shut out when she started showing how to test for COVID in the stool, and what the impact of COVID and COVID vax on the body's intestinal flora, and how to treat COVID outside of the vax (Dr. Sabine Hazan) - the former research director of the Human Genome Project ran us through the process and the proof of DNA getting into the human cancer cells (i.e. the latest update on the research in the field) (Kevin McKernan) - one of the many investigators of the Pfizer clinical trial data shared a whack of info re: what Pfizer knew and didn't share when re: the inordinate implact of the mRNA injection on WOMEN (Dr. Robert Chandler) - the most widely active fetal/maternal health specialist shared data showing how the mRNA injections have the greatest injury to kill rate of any medical intervention ever before. HOLD ON TO YOUR HORSES when you hear this - the numbers are mind boggling. (Dr. James Thorp) Day 2 started with Dr. Tess Lawrie who consulted for the WHO, and worked with someone there to gather the data on early antiviral treatment for COVID-19 which had a long time stellar safety profile. Day 3 starts now!

Opinion | We Need a Global Immune System to Stop Future Public Health Crises By Dr. Atul Gawande The thing that has surprised me most since I began my job leading foreign assistance for global health at the U.S. Agency for International Development is how much emergencies have defined my work. The bureau I oversee focuses on reducing the global burden of mortality and disease and on protecting the United States from health threats from abroad. Our work is supposed to primarily serve long-range goals — for instance, eradicating polio (after 35 years of effort, we’re down to just a handful of wild-type cases in the world) and ending the public health threat of H.I.V., malaria and tuberculosis by 2030. But from the moment I started, more immediate problems have diverted time, attention and resources. In January of 2022, when I started this role, Covid was naturally the top priority. Then, in late February, suddenly it was Ukraine. The Russian government’s invasion cut off pharmaceutical supplies, attacked hospitals and the systems they depend on and drove outbreaks of disease among the displaced, potentially endangering even more lives than Russian weapons did. More than 100,000 Ukrainians with H.I.V., for example, were threatened with losing access to the lifesaving antiretroviral medications they needed. We had to move fast to help Ukraine solve how to keep pharmacies, clinics, hospitals and public health capacity functioning. That same month, a wild-type polio case turned up in Malawi — a major setback after more than five years without a documented case in Africa. Over the following months, we faced deadly cholera outbreaks in more than two dozen countries, the global spread of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) and an outbreak in Ghana of Marburg virus disease, a deadly cousin of Ebola. By mid-2022, waves of political violence and climate catastrophes forcibly displaced more than 100 million people — the largest number in recorded history — leading to increased disease and death from crowding, unsanitary conditions, malnutrition and the loss of basic health services. This past May, the World Health Organization reported a total of 56 active global health emergencies, a situation that Mike Ryan, the head of the W.H.O.’s health emergencies program, has described as “unprecedented.” Larry Cole - click on The New York Times image below to continue reading.

I am pleased to share that our latest research, Human echinococcosis incidence in Canada: A retrospective descriptive study using administrative hospital and ambulatory visit data, 2000–2020, has been published in the Canada Communicable Disease Report (CCDR). This work, initially spearheaded by Drs. Joanne Tataryn and Pia Muchaal, and first-authored by Ayisha Khalid, explores administrative hospital and ambulatory visit data to provide a baseline for human echinococcosis in Canada between 2000–2020, relevant for increasing awareness and informing public health guidelines and aims to address a critical gap in the paucity of information on echinococcosis among people in Canada. As the global and national landscapes of echinococcosis continue to evolve, exacerbated by limited awareness and underdiagnosis, as well as increasing evidence of emergence due to the detection of a more virulent strain, it's more important than ever to have robust, inclusive, and actionable data to inform policy and decision-making. I hope our findings will contribute to ongoing conversations and inspire further work in this space. If you're interested in echinococcosis specifically and/or zoonoses generally, I'd love to hear your thoughts and connect with others who are passionate about advancing this area of research!
