Aviation Regulatory Update: April 30, 2024. The FAA announced on April 26 a new rule to reduce carbon particle emissions from aircraft engines. The rule sets limits on the amount of emissions allowed and is intended to reduce the impact of contrails on the climate. The rule is aligned with international standards and will help achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Read more from the FAA and check out the new rule here: https://lnkd.in/gNpyr5v2

Do you remember when the #Falcon20ER was "chasing" our #A350? ✈️ This special flight test campaign was measuring the impact of using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (#SAF) on non-CO2 emissions. Today, together with German Aerospace Center (DLR), Rolls-Royce and Neste we are excited to share that SAF not only reduces CO2, but also non-CO2 emissions. 🙌 Find out exactly how 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekugZVrB

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has emphasized the need for a better understanding of aviation contrails and their impact on climate change. In a recent report titled "Aviation contrails and their effect on climate: Tackling Uncertainties and Enabling Solutions," IATA calls for increased collaboration between research, technology innovation, and policy frameworks to address non-CO2 aviation emissions. The report highlights the complexity of contrail science and identifies gaps in knowledge regarding their formation, persistence, and climate effects. Insufficient real-time data on atmospheric conditions, particularly humidity and temperature at cruising altitudes, makes accurate forecasting of contrail occurrence challenging. IATA Director General, Willie Walsh, stresses the importance of addressing these knowledge gaps to ensure effective mitigation measures and avoid potential adverse effects. The report provides recommendations for addressing contrail impact in the near term, medium term, and longer term, including reducing CO2 emissions, improving modeling and data transmission standards, and promoting continuous data collection from aircraft. The report also mentions ongoing trials and initiatives aimed at understanding contrail formation and potential solutions. #aviation #aicraft #aviation #airlines #travelmexico #iata #emissions

Reductions in the emissions profile of the aviation industry will depend upon two key factors – successful replacement of traditional aviation fuels with lower carbon energy sources and improvements in the energy efficiency of aircraft. Stabilizing emissions and then reaching net zero by 2050 is dependent on the actions the aviation industry takes now. The aerospace industry must embrace the imperative shift towards a net zero future through the UK’s Jet Zero strategy. Unipart Consultancy can offer support in sustainable aviation, so contact consultancy@unipart.com. #Sustainability #Aerospace #Aviation #JetZero
The aerospace industry must embrace the imperative shift towards a net zero future through the UK’s Jet Zero strategy. Achieving net zero aviation is challenging, especially post-pandemic. Increasing air travel demand risks making aviation a major carbon emitter without decisive action as aviation already currently accounts for 2.5% of global CO₂ emissions. We have written a blog that outlines the challenge of achieving net zero aviation by 2050 and how we can support the elimination of carbon emissions across your value chain. Read our blog here: https://lnkd.in/dRNU9kXu If you’re looking for more support in sustainable aviation, contact consultancy@unipart.com. #Sustainability #Aerospace #Aviation #JetZero
