The fruit jar techniques are not only an important part of working with patients with sinus issues but should also be used as finishing techniques after correcting the frontal and temporal bones to balance any TMJ issues. Also after correcting the sphenobasilar, especially the sphenoid wings, the fruit jar series should be used. Swallowing, sinus, sucking, speaking, chewing, nursing, TMJ (especially bruxism), allergies, ear infections or chronic congestion, trigeminal neuralgia, Bell's Palsey are all issues that can be helped by performing the Fruit Jar series. drmartinrosen.com

Besides nursing issues, palate/tongue-tie issues are often reflected in palate growth patterns. One of the most common presentations you will see is a high narrow palate. Not only does this interfere with proper latching and causes air to be sucked in while nursing, it often leads to chronic congestion, sinus issues, mouth breathing, swallowing issues, hypersensitive gag reflexes and chronic ear infections. As the child gets older the facial structure will change, looking more narrow and often have swollen bags under their sinus allergy symptoms can often be present. While we can still make positive changes in the palate up until age 6 (up until age 3 gives you the best odds), it is important during your palate evaluation that you look for this phenomenon. When it gets missed is when the posterior aspect of the palate is high and narrow and the anterior portion looks normal. Remember the maxilla makes up the lion's share of the palate but the palatine bone and the sphenomaxillary suture are responsible for raising the posterior portion of the palate. drmartinrosen.com

Chief Pharmacy Officer RxBenefits, Inc. | President & CEO Innoviant | Director of Pharmacy at Wausau Insurance Companies
I couldn't agree more with Julie Akers' comment about #pharmacists being trained and qualified yet highly underutilized. I hope to see more studies (and changes implemented) like this in the future. Pharmacists possess vast knowledge and can offer more #AffordableCare for common ailments such as headaches, UTIs, and allergies. However, additional training or certifications would be essential to maintain standards for prescribing pharmacists. Given the increasing shortage of #MedicalProfessionals, pharmacist-provided care has the potential to alleviate the strain on larger #HealthcareFacilities and #PrivatePractices.
