Running a business can sometimes feel like a lonely journey. You’re at the helm, making big decisions, and often, it feels like you’re doing it all by yourself. But I’ve found something that’s changed the game for me. I really liked the concept of BOD Board of Directors, which Akshar Sir has created in the mentoring and it's like having a super team by your side. This board isn’t just any group—it’s made up of leaders from 12 different industries. Whenever we have BOD meetings, we challenge each other with difficult questions, so that we arrive at the right decisions rather than taking a wrong decision. This helps us in paving our way to growth. We share ideas, challenge each other's thinking, and tackle tough questions together. It’s been a blessing. Many years ago, I found myself in a room full of men twice my age where I was presenting ideas and solutions that if effective would have brought success to a company that I fundamentally didn’t agree with. I was a young woman trying to make my way in the world, champing at the bit to contribute and make a noticeable impact, when it hit me - my values did not align with the company values, I did not believe in the vision, and because of that, I was never going to succeed (or feel fulfilled) no matter how hard I worked. That's when I made a pact with myself to find a company that aligned with my values and where I could commit to the vision. And I found Argus. Now, as CEO, I look for that alignment. It’s the secret sauce for bringing people together who are excited and fulfilled and are also fully committed to magnifying Argus’ impact. Here’s what alignment looks like to me: 🤝 When we’re in alignment, we can disagree intensely, but our debate is fruitful. The conversation provides clarity, not resentment. The tension sparks ideas, not fires. 💸 When we’re in alignment, everyone understands when we pass on an opportunity that financially seems great but would betray our company values. 💡 When we’re in alignment, people bring me ideas that aren’t on my radar, are not part of my plan (often even mess up my plans!), but so clearly support or even catapult us toward the vision that I have to say, “let’s do it.” So evaluate who you are and what you want: to innovate, save the climate, or just save enough money to travel more. It’s completely up to you. Then find a place where your values align with the company’s values and vision. You don’t have to agree with every decision all the time (in fact, I’d advise you don’t), but from my experience you’ll find much more fulfillment in your own growth and successes when your work and your values align. #alignmentmatters #findyourplace #workthatmatters

Spending time wishing for things we don’t have. And, when we finally achieve them, we don’t take a moment to celebrate. Today - we change that. Take a moment to add it to your calendar 🗓️ on Monday morning so you start your week with an inspiring reminder of how far you’ve come. And why stop there? Consider adding a recurring 10-minute reflection block every Friday. A simple system to help you end each week on a high note. As inspiration, here are a few things that my clients celebrated in September: 🎉 an entrepreneur surpassed year end revenue goals 3 months early (since regularly taking Friday afternoons off) 🎉 a VP who wanted to increase her leadership influence beyond her role and company was appointed to a prominent external committee 🎉 a founder & CEO booked his first 2 week vacation in 5 years 🎉 an SVP transitioned into an EVP role and now, 6 months later, has exceeded their targets, while significantly increasing the team’s engagement and retention scores What are you celebrating this week?

Theater Alliance was so pleased to join Booz Allen Hamilton at The Anthem for their Booz Allen Excellence Awards! The talented team of Theater Alliance artists and youth "brought the magic" to the evening of WOW led by Natalie Ade, Kari Merkel, and team. Arts organizations get asked to perform at these kind of events all the time - and as an artistic leader, we get asked to make those decisions. For me, the question always comes down to #values. Does the organization align with our values of integrity, diversity, and excellence? Does the organization value artists? Does the organization live their values? With #BoozAllenHamilton, the answer was a resounding YES. Even in the first conversation about the event, we didn't talk about what they needed or how to make all their dreams come true on a tiny budget. Instead, we talked about what they believe in and what we believe in - we talked about the WHY of our organizations. That is what makes a great collaboration and I'm grateful! #values #integrity #diversity #excellence

Wrapping up a week at Berkshire’s Leadership Conference in Dallas Texas. Feeling inspired and proud to work for a company that has an all women led Regional Vice President executive team. Also, we were just named top 30 out of 50 Multifamuly owners. Final take away @brenebrown Barrette’s elements of BRAVING: BOUNDARIES: Setting boundaries is making clear what’s okay and what’s not okay, and why. RELIABILITY: You do what you say you’ll do. At work, this means staying aware of your competencies and limitations so you don’t overpromise and are able to deliver on commitments and balance competing priorities. ACCOUNTABILITY: You own your mistakes, apologize, and make amends. VAULT: You don’t share information or experiences that are not yours to share. I need to know that my confidences are kept, and that you’re not sharing with me any information about other people that should be confidential. INTEGRITY: Choosing courage over comfort; choosing what’s right over what’s fun, fast, or easy; and practicing your values, not just professing them. NONJUDGMENT: I can ask for what I need, and you can ask for what you need. We can talk about how we feel without judgment. GENEROSITY: Extending the most generous interpretation to the intentions, words, and actions of others. The BRAVING Inventory can be used as a conversation guide that walks us through trust-building from a place of curiosity, learning, and connection.

I joined Greenough Communications just over a year ago with the support of an amazingly talented leadership team of Christine Williamson, Jen Heady, Jessika Parry, and Kenneth Craig – and newly added, but I can’t imagine us without her – Nicole Murphy, and a vision. Together, we will make it a reality. I’m incredibly grateful - and honored - to follow in the footsteps of Phil Greenough. Over the last 25 years, he founded and led Greenough through several incredible inflection points across the #technology, #healthcare, and #energy industries and provided us with a proven playbook to tackle the ones yet to come. From Fortune 500 companies to the many startups, he was there penning new narratives and disrupting markets. His mark on the communications field and this agency is undeniable, and I look forward to continuing his legacy.   What’s next is still unwritten, but what I do know is we will: ➡ Have fun defining the “new rules” for agencies to live by. As Eleanor Hawkins recently said, the “challenger firms” will be the ones that have senior leaders who walk side-by-side with their clients, deliver the strategy, and generate the results vs. relying on those who are just cutting their teeth in the field. That model is broken. We are an agency of experienced, creative practitioners who love what we do and still get a high while doing it. This remote world can be distracting, and it can feel monotonous. But collectively, we will be keeping each other focused and present.
