Why did the death of Cecil the lion prompt such a widespread public reaction? Can we use this knowledge to bring humans closer together? In this article for Nautilus, Professor Harvey Whitehouse discusses his research into the motivations of WildCRU donors after Cecil's death. The study found that donors from around the world felt 'fused' with Cecil and supporters of lion conservation. Relocated songbirds can successfully learn the diversity of song they need to survive . New research focused on a population of cirl bunting reintroduced into Cornwall from 2006 as part of a major conservation program. It suggests that if the translocation of nestlings is deemed necessary for conservation purposes, it may not lead to long-term problems for communication and population persistence. #ScienceDailynews #InnovativeResearch #NextGenScience #ExploringFrontiers

Our last lecture from the Inclusive city course is dedicated to the topic of animals in the urban environment, presented by Petr Ivanov. It's an immensely important and complex topic that requires thorough and thorough exploration. Today's material delves into the history of human-animal relationships and modern approaches to creating animal-friendly cities. During the lecture, we briefly addressed the issue of homeless animals. This issue is multifaceted and often closely tied to local culture. It's crucial to remember that stray animals, for the most part, are born and raised on the streets, possessing historical adaptations for survival in urban environments. We encourage you to explore this topic further and share any interesting findings you come across in the comments section 🤝 #moo_cud #community #cud #inclusivecity

At #IRC, we understand that native plants are the backbone of our environment. Our dedication to restoration relies on fostering a strong inventory of these essential species. Here's how we do it: 🌱 Seed Collection: Our dedicated staff and volunteers collect small, genetically diverse seed samples from naturally occurring plant populations. 🌿 Cultivation Techniques: Utilizing traditional agricultural and nursery techniques, we cultivate plant material to ensure its adaptability to local conditions. 🌾 Self-Sufficiency: By overseeing every step, we maintain a diverse inventory of plant species. 🌍 Wildlife Conservation: We minimize seed collection from local habitats, leaving seeds in the wild to foster new growth and ensure population persistence. This year-round, cyclical work serves as a community gateway, fostering understanding and meaningful engagement with the surrounding land.
