So proud of the brand we’ve built at Canva. ✨
It really is the result of every single one of the 4500 incredinle people across the globe that make up Canva, believing in the importance of the mission of empowering the world to design, and embodying our values of being a force for good, making the complex simple, and empowering others every day. 🌍
But more than that it’s the intentionality and shared understanding of why we do what we do, that shows up in our product, our advertising, our customer experience and our workplace.
➡️ It was fun to reflect on one of the pivotal moments over the past few years with the New York Times Advertising team for their new series (alongside Drew Panayiotou and Zara Mirza).
When we started to really invest in marketing, we set out to engage a brand consultancy to help lay some foundations.
But it didn’t quite feel right to kick things over the fence when we were finding our voice, so we spent time looking inwards…
💬 “For us, it’s the soul of a company that — at its heart — is rooted in a vision to empower people to share their passions with the world in vivid, brilliant design. That, at the end of the day, is your brand: who you are and how you show up for your team, your investors, your community. So, we set out to answer those questions ourselves.
Over the course of several months, we’d ask ourselves all sorts of deep questions. We’d run brainstorms and workshops, poring over other brands – their photography, their typefaces, how they showed up in ads or creative — as we debated who we were, and who we were not.
The result was cemented in Canva’s three key brand values: We are human, we are empowering, we are inspiring. Now everything we do, whether it’s how we show up at an event, the way we engage with our community on social media, or how we bring Canva to life on a billboard, is driven by this shared sense of identity.”
