Culture captured: among the many awards our agency has won over the years is a Florida State Emmy Award for a PSA created for the Peace Corps in 1985. #FearlessChampions

Before you can succeed at anything, you have to START doing it. It's happened to me several times in my career - just one of those lessons you've got to keep relearning. Here is what I learned in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. Part 1

Honored to have my DFM White Paper written at the The NCO Leadership Center of Excellence and Sergeants Major Academy “Force Management and Organizational Capability in Joint Base Religious Support” published by the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps Journal this month (pgs 18-23). Articulating this complex problem-set and generating a feasible solution is the result not just of academic research hours but years of practical experience both inside and outside the joint base construct. Bottom line: like mission command, “joint” can't mean whatever we want it to mean. Purpose and identity are organizational as well as spiritual values -and transformation shouldn’t ever be done in silos. Alignment and unity of effort are vital to MDO. My prayer is this article sparks much-needed conversation on an often-neglected corner of the Sustainment Warfighting Function: Spiritual Readiness and Title X Religious Support. #Humansoverhardware Pro Deo et Patria

True leadership brings the people together
Fallout of Trump rally in South Bronx: "What I want to say is that we absolutely must take our country back. Look at this crowd of people—a diverse group of people. But what ties us all together is our love of country. We have so many people here who escaped from communist countries. "I'm a descendant of slaves. My people fought so hard. They fought in World War II, even when they had no equal rights. My father was a drill instructor in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era. "I have to stand up for my country. This is a beautiful and great country, and we have to stand up and save it right now. Go for America. We must. We must."

A worthy read on Marine Corps history.
From 20-23 November 1943 the Battle of Tarawa was waged. This pivotal island in the South Pacific marked the Marines first (seriously) opposed landing in the Pacific theater. On 21 November the Marines sustained casualty rates unfathomable in today’s era as they fought their way across the reef. The Japanese stated that it would take “one million men a hundred years to take the island.” In 76 hours the objective was complete. Today we paid homage to this era as we celebrated “Tarawa Day.” It’s a legacy to be proud of and a reason to always put one foot before the other - no matter the obstacle or opposition. #marines #history #legacy

Thank you, Sarah McArthur, for sharing it! I loved the initial questions to reflect on as a leader: 1. What do I need to do? 2. Who do I want to be? 3. Who do I need to connect with? And the further development of the article with data from a CEO’s survey. #Leadership #Leaders #LeadershipDevelopment #Coaching #ProfessionalCoaching

Fantastic that my book Limited Force and the Fight for the Just War Tradition has been reviewed in Proceedings, the journal of the U.S. Naval War Institute. King's College London Defence Studies Department "Braun’s work is a valuable contribution to the realms of national security and military ethics. It explores an underserved topic, bringing erudite scholarship grounded in an understanding of real-world operations. It is highly recommended for security studies scholars and for leaders—both military and civilian—involved in making decisions on when and how to employ military power." https://lnkd.in/dPt98UHA

Queen Mary is a Jamaican revolutionary I learned about recently while researching women revolutionaries across the diaspora. I encourage you to learn more about how Black women started revolution after revolution—so many. To learn more about Queen Nanny, Mother of Jamaica, check out this post. Check out my article, “44 Revolutionary Black women across the Diaspora you need to know about” on Medium to learn about more Black women revolutionaries: https://lnkd.in/e8YRm8k5
#Nanny was a leader of the #Maroons (Kidnapped Africans) at the beginning of the 18th century. She was known by the British settlers as an outstanding military leader who became a symbol of unity + strength for her people during times of crisis. #womenhistorymonth
