AI in recruiting, what we're reading this week, and role updates from RFS

Welcome to this week’s RFS Report!

While we often share about the AI roles we help our clients for, we’ve shared less about AI in our own industry - recruiting.

According to some surveys , 12% of hiring professionals say they use AI in their day-to-day work. But when we ran our own poll on LinkedIn a few months ago, 45% of you hiring said you use AI. Answers were split across job descriptions, scheduling and resume screening:

As recruiters, we think the discussion around AI is nuanced. Most companies aren’t using AI to automate the entire recruiting process, as some stories may suggest. Companies would lose too many great candidates. But the percent of HR teams using AI is likely higher than 12%.

Instead there’s likely a balance - for example, companies like Microsoft using AI to chat with candidates , or help out with virtual interviews. Tools that many recruiters use daily, like LinkedIn Recruiter , also use AI to personalize messages to great fit candidates - using inputs like their location and skills.

At RFS, we use AI to help us take notes on candidates and for basic administrative tasks to save time. But we’ve also found that more than before, our recruiters need excellent soft skills to stand out - especially to candidates with in-demand skills. Someone is much more likely to respond to an empathetic email or phone call from someone who cares about the work of recruiting, the role, and helping someone take the next step in their career.
