Connecting Hearts and Hands: Practicing Excellence’s Annual Connect Event Creates 1,000 Care Packages for Emory Healthcare

by Katie Anselmo Pothireddy

In a heartwarming collaboration, Practicing Excellence , a leader in skill-development and healthcare improvement, joined forces with more than twenty client organizations during its annual conference to assemble 1,000 care packages for Emory Healthcare. This remarkable initiative, aimed at providing comfort and support to those in need, brought together a diverse group of healthcare professionals dedicated to making a difference within and beyond the exam room.

Dr. Stephen Beeson, the founder and CEO of Practicing Excellence, expressed the essence of the event, stating, “In the end, it is about living our lives to bring help and benefit to others. Sometimes it is in the exam room, and sometimes it is helping in a different way, entirely. Our best moments are a chance to help.”

During the event, which saw the active participation of over 90 individuals, care packages were meticulously crafted. These packages, totaling 1,000 in number, are destined for underinsured and uninsured patients in Emory Healthcare’s Emergency Department and Cancer Treatment Facility. The collaborative effort extended beyond the assembly line, as each package was accompanied by a handwritten note of love, support, and encouragement.

Dr. Beeson shared his reflections on the impactful experience, stating, “Our team members and partners wrote 1,000 notes of love, support, and encouragement with food and things to keep people warm in an assembling line for the ages! It was one of the most meaningful events I have ever participated in, and I was reminded that our best moments are a chance to help. We are grateful to Emory Healthcare for partnering with us. We will remember that day forever.”

This collaborative effort serves as a reminder that the healthcare community’s impact goes beyond medical expertise and reaches into the realm of compassion and solidarity. Practicing Excellence looks forward to future initiatives that further strengthen the bonds between healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.
