“150K trees @ 150 years” project, inaugurated by eminent environmentalist #Saalumarada Thimmaka started with 25 saplings in Bannerghatta National Park - India along with #Deepa Sasidharan # Jayesh K P # Rajesh R Panicker # Omkar BN #Ajay Kumar #David.

#Miyawaki is an innovative forestry approach that ensures plant growth is 10 times faster and the resulting plantation is rich and denser than the usual approach. Design of the Conti - forest started with master plan, tree and area selection, removing debris and weeds, watering facility, support plants with sticks, Mulching etc.., which was completely taken care of by #Vidyaniketan NGO

We, at Being Volunteer, have been conducting these drives for the last 3 months in partnership with #Vidyaniketan NGO on Bannerghatta. This plantation activity was organized every weekend and received a huge response from volunteers. Around 50000+ trees were planted at #Contiforest. NGOs took special care of the trees and ensured that they were nurtured properly. The survival rate of our trees is more than 80%.

This plantation activity was possible due to active participation by not just Conti colleagues but also their families especially kids, students from Oxford College, NGO Partners and last but not least, Officers from the Forest department.  

Birthdays were celebrated by gifting creative bouquets of wild trees & plants. There were loads of fun such as adventures with JCB, memorable photos capturing the positive energy and emotions, the triumphs of our team spirit in all glory :)

In this journey, I had the privilege of meeting many eminent and distinguished personalities from various backgrounds. People who are the epitome of Spirit of Innovation, Leadership, Impressive History in Public Service #Deepa Sasidharan # Rajesh R Panicker # Omkar BN.

Under the program, I had the opportunity to monetize the time spent as a Volunteer which I was so happy to donate directly to a charity of my choice. The entire initiative was nobly conceived and brilliantly executed! Thank you so much!

No long way to go :) I can visualize our success, we will reach the 150K plantation goal soon.

Finally wrote my first blog post. Kind of fitting it’s about the two things am most passionate about - my trees and my work.
