As August rolls around, excitement builds at DearDoc. It's not just another month on the calendar; it's a time when our team, led by founder and CEO Joe Brown, embarks on a meaningful journey with Experience Camps for Grieving Children , a remarkable nonprofit dedicated to supporting grieving children.

A Personal Connection

Joe's involvement with Experience Camps goes beyond mere participation. As a member of the organization's Board of Directors, Joe brings his expertise to support programming, branding, and strategy. His goal? To further the mission of transforming the lives of grieving children.

Joe's commitment stems from personal experience. "I lost my dad when I was in college, and handling that grief was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through in my life”. This personal connection fuels his passion for the cause.

 Years of Dedication

Since 2016, Joe has been a consistent presence at Experience Camps in California. Over the years, he's taken on increasing responsibilities, serving as a counselor, Unit Leader, and College League Dean. His role as Dean involves leading a camp-wide, color-wars-like competition that brings fun and excitement to the campers.

 The Impact of Experience Camps

Experience Camps addresses a critical need. Consider these statistics:

• One in five U.S. children will experience the death of someone close to them by age 18.
• Six million children will mourn the death of a parent or sibling by age 18.
• Grieving children face higher risks of developmental disruptions, including relationship issues, academic struggles, substance abuse, mental health challenges, and poverty.
