Drivers Are Increasingly Happy With Charging Services And Offers

Decisions and debates should always be facts-based. Right!? Last week, the most recent study by BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. came in. This German association for energy and water industries is showing encouraging results when it comes to the adaptation of e-mobility. 75% of the 1,300 e-vehicle drivers surveyed are increasingly happy with charging services: increased number of charge points, improvements in charging apps and charging stations are seen as key factors here.

Other important observations are that 98% would ‘definitely’ buy an e-vehicle again. Driving experience (81%), sustainability (80%), costs (78%!) and innovative technologies (77%) are the main reasons for this decision. It’s good to see that e-mobilists are really happy with their buying decision.

Key challenges are long delivery times and the increasing prices for new cars. Still, since people surveyed by BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. have owned an electric vehicle since 3 years on average, this is quite an insightful study of people who are really using e-mobility in their day to day lives. All these numbers have massively improved within one year since the last survey was published.

Another interesting insight is that people are charging their cars once or twice a week. This confirms my view that the available charging infrastructure is right-sized for current needs – but needs investments to stay in line with an increasing number of e-vehicles on our streets.

E-mobility is here to stay. Digital Charging Solutions will continue to work on further improvements for a seamless, simple and fun driving experience.

Interesting insights Joerg. I couldn't see the underlying study, but presume the data was focused around a particular city or regional area? Also, for the 25% that weren't happy or viewed challenges - I wonder what those are... given the current macro environment, especially in light of rising energy prices, a repeat survey in 6-9 months may tell a different story.
