Evolution of video/screen convergence and its impact on the future of TV advertising

At the recently concluded Adtech held in March 2024 in New Delhi, industry professionals convened to discuss various topics that would shape the future of advertising.  Amidst this dynamic exchange of ideas, JioAds participated with a showcase of products & emerging technology that could potentially reshape advertising in the coming years. One such development already underway is the rise of Connected TV in India. We observe this trend in markets like the US, where 88% of U.S. households owned at least one internet-connected TV device. The green shoots of this trend in India are beginning to be visible. According to a recent GroupM report, 9.8% of total TV ad revenue in 2023 was from long form streaming video, and this is expected to surpass 13% by 2025.

A lot of people I meet insist that large-screen advertising works the best, however, I believe that as long as the ads are relevant and contextual, they work effectively. Consumers prioritize ads that resonate with their interests and preferences. Hence, brands must strive to elevate their targeting and personalization efforts to a higher level.
