FOMO Marketing Techniques to Boost Your Lebaran Sales

FOMO Marketing Techniques to Boost Your Lebaran Sales

60% of sales are driven by FOMO marketing.

Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) in marketing refers to the fear social media users have of missing out on amazing opportunities or deals. Marketers use this psychology to nudge the audience into taking action on your post now rather than later. This is a great marketing tactic, particularly during the Lebaran season.

Now that you know what FOMO marketing is and why it is effective, let’s dig deeper into the different types of FOMO marketing and examples for each.

There are four motivators you can use for FOMO marketing:

1. Urgency

Set a deadline. Let the audience know there is only a limited time to take action. Push them to take action quickly.

CTAs to use:

Lebaran sale ends in 3 days.
Order before 25th April to get free shipping
Get a free gift between 15th & 25th April

2. Scarcity

A limited supply increases the attractiveness of the product. Product is less in stock because it has higher demand and, therefore, people assume that the product is higher in value.

CTAs to use:

Selling fast. Only a few left
Limited stock available. Hurry up
Expedited shipping for the first 100 orders

3. Loss aversion

Use emotional hooks that push your audience to take action. Make them think about what they are missing out on. And frankly, no one likes to feel that they have missed out a great offer.

CTAs to use:

Buy 2, get 1 free. Don’t miss out
Stand out from the crowd this Eid
Buy today and get it delivered before Eid

4. Social proof

Utilise crowd mentality. Use reviews and experience of other customers to trigger purchase decisions of your audience.

CTAs to use:

Explore the bestsellers this season
Hear what other customers have to say
20,000 purchases made in the last 7 days

Things to keep in mind

When timed well and paired with great visuals and copy, FOMO marketing strategy can help increase your brand awareness, sales volume, and customer base.

But keep these two things in mind:

1. Make your offer authentic

Do not lie to your audience for the sake of giving a FOMO offer. This will break your customers’ trust in your brand and affect your long-term growth.

If you claim the offer to be Lebaran special, do not continue the offer after Lebaran.

Products you advertise as limited stock should, in fact, have limited stock.

2. Don’t overuse this tactic

FOMO marketing is rooted in negative feelings like panic, envy, and disappointment. Audience will eventually tune out if they keep seeing these offers all the time. So, use it scarcely and wisely. Tie it up only with specific occasions like Lebaran.

By following these best practices, you will get more customers and sales this Ramadan.
