Health Projects Center Accepts Grant to Support Caregiver University

Santa Cruz, CA - July 15, 2024 - Health Projects Center (HPC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $4,000 for the Program Project Grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County.

This grant will support Caregiver University, an initiative of Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center, a program of HPC that presents free training for family caregivers. Funds will support online and in-person classes in Hollister and respite support for caregivers to attend.

Caregiver University presents training topics such as:

  • Dementia Care Challenges: Anxiety, Agitation & Anger
  • Fall Prevention
  • Understanding Traumatic Brain Injuries

"Caregiver University, established in 2007 by Health Projects Center, has educated hundreds of local families on providing support to loved ones," said John Beleutz, Executive Director at Health Projects Center. " Caregiver University is a community asset that connects families caring for loved ones with cognitive impairments.”

Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center collaborates with local organizations such as the Seniors Council, Jovenes de Antonio, Alzheimer’s Association, County of San Benito, Senior Legal Services, and Hazel Hawkins Hospital to educate local seniors.

Caregiver University events in San Benito County are funded in part by the Program Project Grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
