Humana honored by Forbes, Human Rights Campaign Foundation for Inclusion & Diversity efforts

Humana has again been recognized by Forbes for being one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity, rising to No. 78 on the list after being No. 203 last year.

And for the seventh time, Humana has earned a perfect score of 100 in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees. The distinction puts Humana among the 2020 “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

“Humana’s culture of inclusion is core to our business, and we’re proud to be recognized by Forbes and the Human Rights Campaign,” said Maria Hughes, Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Humana. “We know that in order to better care for our customers, we need to care for our employees. By creating a healthy, comfortable work environment, we’re enabling employees to devote their efforts to designing innovative and strategic answers to the challenges of health care.”

Forbes and market research company Statista selected America’s Best Employers for Diversity based on an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 60,000 employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people. Respondents were asked questions regarding the topics of age, gender equality, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQA+ and general diversity concerning their own employer.

The Corporate Equality Index is based on three key pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families;
  • Supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility.

Humana’s leaders are advocates and allies for all associates. President and CEO Bruce Broussard chairs the company’s Executive I&D Council. And Humana’s Network Resource Groups are committed to helping shape an inclusive world – in and outside of Humana. NRGs provide personal, experience-based forums for exchanging ideas, building community, and driving measurable business outcomes in order to help the company see through a diverse lens while making business decisions.
