This Indian beer brand made 125 crores in just 3 years of existence

I recently launched a newsletter 'Marketing Muse'. With Marketing Muse, my agenda is to dissect the world's best marketing campaigns and make you the marketing guru so you don’t require an agency. Oops! It might sound a bit contradictory, but you get why, right? (Hint: Blank)

Why you should subscribe to Marketing Muse?

  • Weekly marketing case-studies from around the world
  • 3 minute read per week.
  • Useful case-studies to help you in your brand

Enough about us though. Let's dive into this week's campaign analysis….

Meet Simba, the "Made in India" beer brand that welcomes you with open arms ……. depending on your age ;)

Simba, the brand name, is both exclusive and relatable, portraying the mightiest animal of the jungle, aka the mightiest of the beer clan. Simba positions itself as a quality brand, evident in their name, brand message, and products.

Their brand message, “finely crafted superior quality,” resonates across all of their touch-points:

  • Brand name: Simba
  • Mascot: Alpha & Bold Lion
  • Brand color: Unmissable Red & Black
  • Tagline
  • SKUs: Lager, Wit, Stout, Strong
  • Website: The content mirrors the same feeling - Roar with Simba!
  • Brand activation events offline: Wildest Beer Festivals

With Budweiser as the dominating brand, who would have thought a homegrown brand could carve its place with a similar palette while maintaining a strong, independent, and cool identity in just 3 years?

Simba challenges the standard, expensive-looking beer brands with its bold and attractive color scheme of red and black, from the name to the product packaging.

Here's what you can apply in your brand >

(products owners, B2C brands, FMCG, or F&B)

  • Your brand will be judged based on its first impression—the name, tagline, and how it all ties into your visual brand identity—logo, colors, style, packaging, vibe.
