The marked increase in frequency and severity of adverse climate events in recent decades has focused attention on decarbonization and placed a deserved spotlight on recognition of Earth Day across the world. This year’s theme, Invest in Our Planet, offers time to pause and reflect on the mission and impact of the important work we do at GE Energy Financial Services (“GE EFS”).

A pioneer in global energy project finance, GE EFS has been investing for nearly 50 years on behalf of GE Company, deploying over $50B of capital globally across the energy value chain, and with approximately $20B of this amount invested in renewable energy. We provide financing solutions for complex, capital-intensive renewable energy and thermal infrastructure projects, building and leading strategic partnerships and relationships. We leverage deep structured finance skills with GE’s world class technology businesses, a formidable combination that now enables us to collectively advance the global energy transition.

GE is working with customers around the world to accelerate the reduction in carbon emissions by scaling breakthrough energy technologies, which can be viewed on GE’s new global interactive map, here. These large-scale projects – including mega-offshore wind farms like Dogger Bank in the UK, multi-site onshore wind projects with transmission components like the Western Spirit Wind Farm in New Mexico, and highly efficient gas-fired power plants like Brazil’s Sergipe power plant – come with significant capital costs and depend critically on solutions likes ours to deliver affordable, reliable, and sustainable power.
