Job Alert: Geologist for established open pit coal mine in Zimbabwe - Job ID 4098
An exciting opportunity exists with a leading coal producer in Zimbabwe operating a well-established open pit coal mine with an estimated 25-year life cycle and production estimated to be in excess of 300 000 tons. This is a long-term/permanent commitment, and they will assist with the necessary work permits, etc. We are seeking an experienced and qualified, hands-on, and practical Geologist who will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal extraction of coal resources, maintaining the highest safety standards, and contributing to the mine's growth and success.
Package will be paid in US Dollars based on qualifications and experience. This is an expat position, and they require the Geologist to start as soon as possible.

Job description / core competencies:
Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and data analysis to support mine planning and operations.
Develop and maintain accurate geological models, maps, and databases.
Collaborate with mine planners to optimize coal extraction and resource utilization.
Provide geological input for daily mining operations, including pit design and scheduling.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Contribute to the development of geological reports, presentations, and research projects.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Geology or related field.
3+ years of experience in open pit coal mining or similar geological environment.
Strong knowledge of geological principles, mapping techniques, and data analysis.
Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Micromine, Surpac, ArcGIS).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
