LinkedIn Hosts Video Workflow Workshop July 22

#July 17, 2024

By Jeff Berman, Editor

As the cloud, SMPTE 2110, artificial intelligence (AI), and production software merge to transform video workflows, Silicon Valley video pros are coming together next week to share and discuss their experiences and learnings.

The goal behind the day-long Silicon Valley Video Works (SVVWorks) Video Workflow Workshop, July 22 at LinkedIn Studios in Mountain View, California, is to give big tech companies and their technology partners a chance to dig deep into video workflow strategies in a practical, open-mic-format. The event include a tour of LinkedIn’s own SMPTE 2110 Studio.

Registration closes Weds, July 15 at 5 pm PT. https://siliconvalley.video/video-workflow-workshop-registration/

The Workshop is hosted by Gary Schneider Schneider, LinkedIn lead media system architect; and title sponsors Dave Van Hoy , Advanced Systems Group (ASG) president, and Tom Baldassare, B&H, senior business development director.

Leading off the sessions will be a keynote panel discussion on “The Making of LinkedIn’s Company Connect,” moderated by Schneider and including members of his global team including Joshua Lessley Lessley, LinkedIn broadcast engineer. The biweekly LinkedIn Company Connect event is a vital corporate communications program that ties the executives via a bespoke mobile rack to any studio, office, event venue or device in the world by way of a pair of side-by-side remote production studios in Mountain View.

Company Connect’s production workflow was developed for scale and flexibility so that the director, producer, technical director (TD) and their team can create a consistent program, regardless of where it is coming from, what sources are delivered, and what type of program is produced, LinkedIn says.

Up next, Van Hoy of ASG will moderate a panel session on “SMPTE 2110 and IP for the Masses.” The panelists will be Schneider; Bob Caniglia, Blackmagic Design director of sales operations – Americas; Chin Koh, Net Insight head, presales engineering; Thomas True, NVIDIA senior applied engineer for Professional Video and Image Processing; and Steve Young, ASG senior principal, consulting. With several new technologies and workflows that emerged at NAB, the panel will review how the promise of SMPTE 2110 and IP is now more accessible than ever.

Another one of the day’s standout sessions will be “AI Workflows for Post Production in the Cloud,” which will be moderated by Iolanda Antunes, LinkedIn senior staff product manager. Confirmed panelists are Colleen Kessler, Kessler Post, broadcast and post specialist, Creative Management, and 360/VR executive producer; Gabe Michael, Edelman VP and executive producer, AI; Matty Shimura, Civitai executive producer of AI Film and TV; Rachel Joy Victor, FBRC.ai co-founder; and Karim Vidhani, LinkedIn staff software engineer.  The group will focus in on whether AI is finally the game changer that will advance the adoption of post-production in the cloud and provide operators with new levels of flexibility, scalability and accessibility.

The Workshop will also feature workflow case studies by Panasonic, Megapixel, and ASG.  The event is sponsored by ASG and B&H, Beam, Diversified, Megapixel, NEP, Net Insight, Panasonic, Riedel,
