March Curated Reading and Podcasts

Hello,

Here is my selection of articles and podcasts. Topics include technology, leadership, health care, investing, fitness, productivity, etc..

The two vocabularies (because there are two audiences) - Short and sweet post by Seth Godin on the words to use when appealing to early adopters vs. mass market. It is really interesting take on knowing your audience and speaking their language.

A Better Way to Set Strategic Priorities - I've always been a fan of stack ranking to force people to make hard decisions on prioritization. This HBR article describes a different and compelling method looking at resoure allocation.

How to Hire the Right Person - This is a really good article on interviewing plus other tactics to learn about a candidate. My favorite is taking a tour and asking them what qualities they can credit/blame on their parents.

Interview with Howard Marks: Masters in Business (Audio) - This is an awesome conversation between Barry Ritholtz and Howard Marks. He is the co-founder of Oaktree Capital Management who Warren Buffett follows and considers a business guru.

Mr. Money Mustache — Living Beautifully on $25-27K Per Year - I had never hear of Mr. Money Mustache but this is one interesting dude. He has a cult following on how to live a happy life on a limited budget. His focus on spending on the right things and happiness is awesome and we can all learn a thing or two from him.

Globalization: Myth and Reality - Really interesting Harvard Business Review conversation on globalization. There are many myths and assumptions are out there that this conversation addresses.

Reliving the Oscars With Jimmy Kimmel and Cousin Sal - Bonus Podcast: Hilarious conversation with Jimmy Kimmel about the Oscars. If you saw it and were horrified like the rest of us, you will enjoy.
