NENT Group stands for Love for All

NENT Group stands for Love for All

This year’s Pride celebrations mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall demonstrations in New York in 1969. Pride is about celebrating LGBTQ rights and emphasizing that love, diversity and equality should exist everywhere and at all times. It aims to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues while working to create a safe environment for LGBTQ people and gender expressions within our communities.

As thousands take to the streets in Nordic capitals over the summer to celebrate and support the LGBTQ community, Love for All is top of the agenda for Nordic Entertainment Group too.

From June to August, we’re increasing our efforts to highlight LGBTQ issues to our viewers and listeners:

  • Viaplay has curated the 'Love for All – All for Love' list of series celebrating love of all kinds together with our Nordic viewers. It features series such as ‘Will & Grace’, ‘Glee’ and ‘Transparent’ that are critically acclaimed for their exploration of LGBTQ themes.
  • Viafree will screen a special Pride edition of the 'JuicyNews' talk show during Copenhagen Pride week.
  • NENT Group sports presenters are supporting the ‘Locker Room Talk’ initiative, which promotes equality, diversity and inclusivity in sports and highlights the importance to be able to be who you are.
  • Our Swedish radio streaming platform ‘I Like Radio’ has created ‘Radio Rainbow: Love is All You Need' – music filled with love!
  • In Oslo, SplayOne have partnered with the Pride organisation and NENT Group employees took part in the Pride parade.
  • During Stockholm Pride week, we will change the logos on our Swedish TV channels TV3, TV6, TV8 and TV10.
  • We want to show our support across the Nordic markets including the UK and believe in the importance of raising awareness through social media. The above brands including Viaplay, Viafree and Viasat.se will therefore use the rainbow colors in their social media accounts.

These are just some of the ways in which we’re using our voice, content and platforms to show support for the LGBTQ community. But it doesn’t, and mustn’t, stop there.

NENT Group engages millions of people every day on our platforms, and together with our peers, we have a responsibility to lead by example. Inclusive representation in our industry is moving in the right direction, but there is still progress to be made. In its recent report, GLAAD, a non-governmental media monitoring organisation that indexes the quantity, quality and diversity of images of LGBTQ people in films released by six major motion picture studios, found that although LGBTQ characters saw more screen time than in previous years, the full diversity of the community - specifically people of color, women and transgender - must be better reflected in wide-release film.

We want our content to reflect a wide range of perspectives, to challenge stereotypes and to promote inclusivity and love for all, no matter who you are. That’s why we work actively to acquire, create and broadcast inclusive content. It’s also one of the reasons why we launched a working group in 2018 to take a holistic approach to this topic across our business, from recruitment to content production.

For us, equality, diversity and inclusion are more than just words – they’re part of who we are, all year around. Ultimately, we want everyone to stand with us, connect and take action for a more inclusive society. #bethebeat #lifeatNENT

Beautiful !  We, at MIPCOM, have a program dedicated to diversity (LGBTQI+) and inclusion. I would be delighted to tell you more about it and figure out how we can have NENT onboard. May I get in touch with you  about this ?
