Norway opens offshore tenders, more wind jobs in the US - Live from Wind Europe!
In good news for US offshore development, Maersk and GustoMSC are designing new wind turbine installation vessels that will utilize feeder barges and tugs. In Pueblo, CO, CS WIND Corp announced that it will add 850 jobs at its wind turbine manufacturing facility, more than doubling the 650 already employed there. Now the Midwest is awaiting Nordex's decision about its Iowa facility. Does it hinge on the IRA or something else, and when will we know? EDF is betting on MUCH bigger wind turbines. How much? 25MW seems realistic. Yes, really.
Norway has split its offshore tenders into two rounds, with the first to be awarded by the end of this year. Allen and Joel compare how Norway is developing wind with how the US market is growing. What will spur new projects, other than the IRA? Speaking of the US market, Kansas wind farms with blinking red lights may be in for a big bill - and regulation by the FAA. These stories and more in this week's episode LIVE from Wind Europe 2023!
